General Off-Topic Discussion / Re: BF2 anyone?

There's still fun to be had in the Karkand IO servers.  I was on for a few hours the other night and was pretty happy with the number of people still playing.

Thanks, that's the kind of thing I'm looking for. The tricky part is just finding those perfect spots on BLM Land. I'm just looking for a spot where I can hit some silhouettes at 20 feet or so with a decent backstop.  Avra Valley is a bit north, but I suppose being able to travel on the freeway ought to balance that out.

Thanks, that sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.  I appreciate the directions too.

Anyone else know of any other spots in addition to Reddington?

Real Firearms / Shooting Spots in Tucson
« on: February 28, 2008, 03:56:56 PM »
I've been down here at the U of A for almost three years now and I've never gotten around to going shooting in Tucson.  Does anybody know of any permissible spots to shoot a few rounds off in the desert? I sorted through the Arizona Shooting website and found a few vague leads, but I figured I'd ask here because I'm more familiar with this community. I'm thinking about checking out the Pima County Shooting Range this weekend but eventually I'd like to find a desert spot where I can just fire a few magazines from the .40 without any hullabaloo.

Any suggestions?

I should be there in the afternoon on Saturday with two others.  Given the situation (two of us are at UA down here, one is flying in from TN), all we have with us are black fatigues.

That's a little dissapointing, a lot of the guys I go to school with are paintballers and usually where there are paintballers there are airsofters, so I figured there would be a nice player base down here.

I guess it's time to bring down the BDUs and dust off the ol' Uzi.

No one from the UA airsofts down here?  I would have guessed there would be a large player base at the college level.

This is the tail end of UA's spring break, so I don't know where I'm going to be yet - but if I'm in town I'll try to make it on the 'other colors' team.

It's true about the Land Rovers.... I just traded in my 1992 Range Rover towards a brand new 2005 extended cab Silverado (although it probably went as far as to cover the cost of the power windows and bedliner on the Chevy).  I ended up spending nearly triple what I paid for the Rover to keep it running, let alone lifting it or anything fun.  Just like a Brit Jaguar, it spent about as much time in the shop as on the road.  Although the thing was a beast off road and I loved the comforts, when all was said and done I could have gotten a brand new truck in the first place (assuming I had the money) and avoided the whole mess.  Great performance, just wouldn't stay together.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Help Save Ben Avery Shooting Facility
« on: September 08, 2003, 10:53:41 PM »
I just got a card in the mail today from the folks over at Dillon Precision informing me that the zoning on the shooting range used by many needs to be changed or we will lose it.  I know many on these boards go here, so I thought I'd help get the word out for those of you who don't get the Blue Press.  There are two planning meetings, one (Village Planning Committee Meeting) is September 11 at 6:30 PM at the Deer Valley Community Center, 2001 W. Wahalla Drive and the other (Phoenix City Planning Meeting) is September 24 at 7:00 PM at Paradise Valley Community Center, 17404 North 40th Street.  The goal is to change the range's S-1 zoning to the S-1 Special Permit so that commercial and private enterprises cannot occupy the site that is currently occupied by Ben Avery.  I'm sure there will be no lack of enthusiasm over this issue on these boards, but get the word out nonetheless.

Accessories & Gear / AN PEQ Question
« on: September 03, 2003, 06:15:04 PM »
I surfed through the forums and couldn't find exactly the right answer, so I am asking here.  I personally think lasers are incredibly useless in any environment, and probably even a detriment.  However, I believe in being complete and I'd like to get a battery box that holds a laser and a battery.  I know the ICS model can hold both, but can others (namely the Guarder model) hold a laser as well as a battery?

Thanks.

Gas Powered Guns / WA Series 80 Question
« on: June 11, 2003, 02:04:30 PM »
I just purchased one of these beauties and I'm quite happy with it.  Looks pretty spectacular, but theres one thing that bothers me;  the slide is very loose on the gun.  Seeing as this is my first WA pistol, I dont know if this is something I need to concern myself with or if its just a matter of it having been designed that way for faster blowback.  My 1911 holsters that I plan on using with the gun are the type that are stiff enough that when I holster the gun, I have to place my thumb over the slide to keep it in place while placing the gun into the holster.  I don't want to get into a habit of doing this, but if the slide is that loose by design, I guess I'll live with it.  Any imput would be appriciated.

Gas Powered Guns / KSC 92 mag in KSC 93r v.2
« on: February 24, 2003, 03:36:45 PM »
A while ago I took my KSC Beretta 93r to the gun show and one of the airsoft tables there was kind enough to let me try a KSC 92 mag in it.  It engaged the slide lock when we tried it, so we figured that it would work in the 93.  However at that time I opted to buy a scope mount and some gas from him, and held off on the mag.  A week ago I ordered a KSC 92 mag hoping that it would work in my 93 (I busted my old mag).  It came in today and I tried it in my gun, and sure enough it will engage the slide lock but thats about it.  Every few pulls of the trigger the slide will travel about halfway back in pitiful sucession (like a normal automatic burst except the slide doesnt go back all the way on each shot) and then discharge the contents of the gas resivior.  Also, the mag catch will not engage and the mag is pushed all the way up into the gun, held in by friction.  Is there any way to get the KSC 92 mag to function in the 93 or am I just gonna have to sell the new mag off?

Thanks

Spring Power!! / Benelli Trouble
« on: February 12, 2003, 09:20:11 PM »
I bought a TM Benelli over the summer, and before I was able to enjoy it something went wrong.  Possibly due to a shortstroke, I can't get more than three pulls of the trigger out of ten to actually expel BBs, and when this happens, usually six or so come out instead of three.  I've lubed the whole gun with silicon spray and whatnot, and I figured whatever the problem was that it was beyond me and packaged it up.  However, after emailing many retailers, I found that no one is able to perform any repairs on it.  I've searched 'Zone and bounced off emails after a good number of retailers, and now I'm at the end of my rope.  If anyone has any suggestions on how I could try to fix this myself or where I could send it please let me know.

Thanks,

Yankee

Gas Powered Guns / JAC SD Rig
« on: January 13, 2002, 09:49:14 PM »
I recently aquired a JAC Mp5SD and would like to know what kind of rig I need to get it shooting.  Is there some sort of KWC gas connector I can use, or do I have buy an expensive paintball rig?  I have heard that the JAC Uzi will take the KWC rig, but the JAC MAC 10 needs some sort of 8mm hose.  If anyone has any experience with these guns, let me know.

Hail to the King baby....
