Gas Powered Guns / KWC CO2 Desert Eagle
« on: April 20, 2004, 11:24:27 AM »
This may be old news to some:

Rumored to be semi and full auto, but I highly doubt that. I hope they make a metal slide and barrel for this.

Gas Powered Guns / HFC Dark Hawk=eye opener?
« on: March 29, 2004, 12:29:41 PM »

I first saw this gun on UN Company about two weeks ago, and just the look alone almost sold me. While it merely looks like a Glock with a snazzy frame, the design all in all is simply stunning (to me at least). http://www.airsplat.com currently sells this gun in black, silver, and chrome finish. Externally, this gun is a true beauty: slide, barrel, and frame are full metal.

I'm considering getting this just for plinking; however, like Classic Army and ICS, there's bad word of mouth going around about the quality of HFC guns. I'm not asking, "Should I get this or not?"; I simply would like other people's opinions on this gun, both at first glance, how they think it will perform, and if applicable, personal experience (though the gun is fairly new).

AEG's / CA MP5SD3 Upgrade plan-a few concerns
« on: January 27, 2004, 09:56:24 PM »
How effective are silent piston head sets-meaning, is it meant for a m120 spring upgrade? I understand that aluminum piston heads can actually increase the stress put on the internals of an AEG using a M120 or higher spring-I don't want a silent piston head doing the same. I also don't want the piston head itself to get damaged.

Here are my planned specs:

Low resistance wires
Metal shims
Systema metal bushings
Systema nozzle for MP5
Systema spring guide with bearing
Systema New Bore Up cylinder set
Systema tappet plate
Systema m120 spring
Systema polycarbonate piston
Systema silent piston head set
Reversal stop latch
Systema tight bore inner barrel
Systema selector plate

I want to be able to fire frequent bursts or full auto without the risk of stripping gears, being as quiet as possible, dishing out shot power 350 fps or above, without hitting or going over the 400 fps barrier. Is there anything in that spec set up that I don't need? Anything else that I will need? This will be my first upgrade plan, and I want it all to go really smooth.

Gas Powered Guns / Western Arms SV Prokiller Mark II 6"

WEll, my search on the internet for reviews on this gun came up fruitless. Any of you have experience with this gun? I know they are out of production, and I want to get my hands on one before they are gone for good. How durable/reliable are they (especially in full auto mode)?

Given your preferences Marve, your only options are the Glock 17 and the Glock 34.

I will add that the Glock 19 isn't much smaller than the 17. It's 8ths of an inch shorter at the barrel, grip, and slide height.

Drew-you can't really.

I myself have never had a problem with o rings being damaged from leaving a full charge of gas in the mags, or o rings drying up/freezing during the cold season when leaving the mags with no gas in them.
WA guns WILL break if you use green gas in them without upgrading them and buying a metal slide - guaranteed. To get a WA to be able to use green gas reliably, be prepared to spend in the $300+ range on a GBB.

I believe some WA guns, despite not being metal, will be able to handle green gas, cheifly the heavier ones. I have a Beretta 92G Elite, and this thing weighs as much as my KWA Glock 19 with the metal slide. Redwolf displays which guns can and cannot use green gas-how reliable this is, I do not know, and to be safe, I will be getting 134a gas for my Beretta.

As for KWC guns, I would like to state that the Desert Eagle will suffer a premature death if you use green gas. I had two, and the loading nozzle failed to propel bbs after about 500 rounds of use. Just remember there is a lack of replacements parts available from retailers, and (basing on my experience with the Desert Eagle) their guns can't be taken apart farther than field stripping.

Joseph-"KWAs are KSCs and will break with green gas"-false. Neither company's guns are more reliable than the other. There is a big misunderstanding in the airsoft community about these two companies, and no one has found the correct answers yet. The one I like to go with is KWA and KSC guns are both manufactured in Taiwan. KWA ships guns to KSC in Japan, which KSC distributes under it's own name, with trademarks. How else can you explain that both company's guns work exactly the same, malfunction the same, and have the same exact internals, and product design? You would think that if they were two seperate MANUFACTURERS, then there would be an ongoing battle about copyright infringement, violation of patents, and so on. If you get your hands on either company's guns without metal slides, barrels, and spring guides, both are prone to suffer an untimely death or malfunction when using green gas. However, just about every US retailer sells KWA guns with metal slides, barrels, and spring guides.

Anyway, I suggest a KWA Glock 19. Great feel, with a compact design that isn't too small. It's only about half an inch shorter in length and grip length, about 2/8 inch skinner, and 2/8 inch shorter slide height, and these subtle changes in measurements produce a much more comfortable feel, especially when holstering. The range and accuracy is about the same as the Glock 17 and 18C on full auto. I've shot a Glock 17 across a street about 40 yards in length at a basketball hoop without hop up adjusted, and was able to consistently hit the pole (was aiming for the backboard and rim, but the bbs sank).

The bar in my selector switch was crooked, until I tigthened the allen screw under the rear sight.
