I have a couple questions for you guys that have played in Ghillie suits. Its probally not suitable for AEG,s going full auto right? (With changing mags and carrying them) It looks bloody hot, but I remember a post by someone stating that they are cooler, is it hotter, cooler or 'bout the same? Lastly it looks like you wouldn't even feel a BB hit or do you?
Thanks,
Charlie
Chuck,
Ghilles are suitable for most weapons, the real question is whether or not the scenerio supports someone in a ghille suit.
I carried both a sniper rifle as a sniper and an AEG in the role of a spotter/recon player:
If you think about it, the spotter in a real steel sniper team carries an automatic weapon, and I suppose the sniper could possible have a back up auto weapon too.
I wouldn't wear a ghille at game of CQB or one that is mostly in an AO that isn't rural. You can play on the outskirts of a building in a ghille, but you can't move from there....a ghille coming down the hall is just stupid.
You can modify your suit to carry mags, but a full rig is hard to wear. I just dumped my mags in my pocket. I have seen one picture someplace of a team with rigs on, I can't find it right now.
Soft hits are hard to feel, especially when I'm trying to get the hell out of there. You just have to be ultra conscience of hits and things like that. Of course, if you are not sure, call your self out.
There are ways to keep cool too. Mark hit the nail when he said less is better. All you need to do is really break up your outline. Supplimenting your burlap with lighter dyed material works too. I also add natural fibers.
This guy put panels in his suit to keep cool:
