Not a problem at all!  Take the East entry and you will be fine.  Mostly a matained dirt Rd.  But the West entry around the flank of the Dam is a little tough!

This spot was a popular paintball locatrionj for many years. May still be, for all I know.

It's shady, and challenging  -More challenging with the longer range of airsoft weapons.

Used to be a lot of people in the vacinity, including bicycle riders, hikers, and the usual qwad crowd. We would play back in the woods though, and seldom had to stop a game for "hikers".

Good luck and have fun there.
See everyone this Fell.

Sounds like it will work from what your post says. How many people do you think a good game would consist of out there? Whats the weather like there?

I had been shooting near there about 4 years ago, very nice area but I choose not to pursue it due to the heavy traffic there.  Many people bike and 4 wheel in the area and everytime I went there, there were always paintballers roaming the woods.  One day, I was hiking in the area first and approached some paintballlers who had just arrived. I was exploring the place and told them I would only be 15 mins as they were just setting up anyways. I also told them where I would be hiking at and they said that was fine, they would wait.  Well not more than 5 mins later I heard paintball discharges through out the woods and when I returned to my truck I had found they had shot 6 rounds of pink paint onto my truck.  Well I was pissed to say the least, but kept my cool and proceeded to start my truck up to leave when they shot it again while I was in the truck!  The guy I was with had to calm me down a bit and I ended up giving them a Sinjin Salute and rode off.  It is a very popular paint ball area and I didnt want to have our people drive all that way to deal with crap.

Last time I was there, 5 months ago, they had put up a sign at the entrance to the spill way saying No Trespassing, shooting, off roading, or hiking. This is the main entrence to that wooded area and unless they changed their mind I think it is probally the same. The sign still didnt prevent people from shooting there as they disregaurded it and shot anyways. But a few check ups by the authorities and Im sure people will start to move else where. I would definately make sure that the access to the area, ie spill way, and the area its self are ok. But I wouldn't hold my breath, if it were still ok, you still have to deal with the paintballers. And the fact is, the field is simply not large enough to share between two groups.

Mad Sarge...I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you out there!  If I was in your boots that day....I would have went to jail for assult!  Because I would have got out of my truck swinging!

Ok...here is what we need to do! Fella's I will need your help on this. We need to get ahold of the U.S. Forest Service and get a map of the area stating where the current lines are.  The Dam from what I understand was owned by the the Army Corps. Of Engineers.  It was then given to Pinal County.  Now the land i.e. The Jungle to the East of the Dam is under the control of the USDA (Forest Service).  Which means the land is open for public rec.  I just don't know where the line is.  We need to find that out!  Trust me fella's...It's a beautyful place and I don't want any of us gettin in hot water over it.  I went out there Sat. Afternoon to take the pictures and I'm tellin ya....I saw no signs...it's all open desert!  But I understand Mad Sarge's point.  Lets check on it before we lock and load to make sure.

The sign I saw was coming in on the West side from Queen Valley Rd. Never been down Hewitt Station Rd and missed that in your post. I have been at that cattle guard and yes that comes in from the east side. There used to be no signs on that side. I guess they put up a few signs, like you stated, since then. So in short, yes, we need to find out those boundry lines before using it and just make sure they are not 10 seconds off  8)

If the lines are good we would be good to go I guess. Im sure not many people will be out there in the summer. But be prepared for busy winters as that was my previous experience in the past. Don't get me wrong, I love the place. I'm just sharing my past experience and that could be different now.
