Curse of the Black Pearl! Blackberry Pearl that is
« on: October 04, 2006, 07:28:34 PM »
Well in case you all don't know, Blackberry has released a new phone entitled the PEARL. It's a much smaller version of a blackberry with a new interface device.

http://www.blackberrypearl.com/

I just got one and it's completly badass... It has full internet access, auto checking e-mail of up to 11 accounts (POP or IMAP), a GPS compatable system with a mapping and direction feature.

Anyone thinking of a new handheld should look into it, I've used lots of mobile devices but I've never had a Blackberry before- and I swear I have to change my pants after I use it.

Greg has one, it's OK.

It pales in insignificance to either of the new Treo offerings.

Lol. Yeah I could get sucked into that screen if I tried to do stuff when I'm driving.

Vince its more than "OK" its super sweet. Besides Blackberry has a higher reputation than Treo.

I would disagree...I'm willing to bet there's far more Treos in existence than there are RIM devices. There's only 6.2 million Blackberry subscribers.

I almost had a chance to win one at T-Mobile's Launch Party for the Blackberry Pearl that my friend snuck me into in Scottsdale.  They were asking people trivia questions on the device specs, but I didn't get called up when I raised my hand.  Its situations like these that being tall and/or having boobs can serve an advantage.

They did at least give me free drink vouchers and a t-shirt though, so it wasn't a complete loss. :D

What the hell is with these tech debate threrads? blackberry vs treo, mac vs pc. My brain hurts.

IMHO, the pearl is the best phone or pda I've ever had... for what I need/want. (I've had plenty of phones and as for pda's- 3 palms, 1 wince, 2 different linux pda's)

In case anyone else happens to have both a blackberry and a mac, the new version of pocketmac came out todaty. You can get it from the blackberry.com downloads page. Also, if you have a pearl, go to mobile.blackberry.com and get the today plus theme- it is a nice mix of today and tmo zen.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does your contract cost per month?
