Mad Bull (gemtech) HALO sound Suppressor
« on: February 08, 2007, 09:01:01 PM »
I know i recently posted a want ad on silencers (sound-suppressors the more appropriate word) and yes I'm still looking but i have a chance to fall into a small sum of money and was pondering on buying a legit suppressor. So what I'm asking is if anyone has one for sale (yes its very doubtful) or if anyone knows if any of the local airsoft stores have in stock or could order one. if not what sites carry them and are cheapest or easiest to deal with? (airsoftgi has them i think i saw)

well any inf is greatly appreciated
thx in advance

Well, if by suppressor, you mean the Mad Bull HALO silencer with foam in it, then tough break.  It's illegal in the US.  We suck.

Just order it from HK.  That's how I got all of mine over.

If it's for looks then you can get the silencer no problem.  The foam inserts are the illegal part.

Basically, if it could be used to actually supress the sound of a real bullet being fired, then it can't legally be bought in the US.

At least, that's my understanding.  There was a post a while back with a quote of the actual law.

That's kinda wierd, I bought a CA silencer a while back, i forget which site exactly, but it was definaltly in the US and it has foam inserts.

Honestly, concerning the silencer law thing, I don't quite understand it, the real steel silencer's i've seen cost like $600 and up.  How could a ~$40 airsoft gun accessory really silence a gun well enough for it to be illegal?

Just thinking aloud.

Foam airsoft suppressors are 'illegal' in the same way that unlicensed trademarks are.

The Madbull Gemtech licensed suppressors don't ship to America because that's not part of their license agreement.

Dude, they sell the barrel extension. Not the suppressor.

Yeah, but do you remember how hard it was to get it?

If I remember correctly, you had to email back and forth a bunch of times about how you could get foam.  I think I even remember them shipping you a silencer without foam and you having to send it back.

Maybe not, it was a while ago.

Has anyone heard of someone getting hauled in by the ATF for having a silencer on an airsoft gun?

Its very unlikely that the ATF or anyone else will ever show up to an airsoft game and start inspecting airsoft guns.  However, if you got pulled over on your way to or from an event with something that wasn't legal, you could be asking for trouble.  Firearm violations are very serious, and the ATF is not known for its understanding nature.  My advice, take the safe route, and don't chance it for some foam inserts.

Calling ATF understanding would be like calling Satan cute and cuddly.

I have never heard of them busting airsofters, but if if did happen (and it could) you would be in a world of trouble.  Possession of unlicensed restricted weapons/items is a  VERY serious charge.

Speaking of foam insert silencers, I just realized the silencer on my freind's TM Socom MK23 has foam inserts.  That thing is a whisper.  He got it from Cobra Airsoft though....
