Good restaurants in tempe/phoenix/scottsdale?

I have an anniversary to plan for, anyone know any perticularly good restaurants in these areas?

I forget the name of it, but i think its called the boulders. Its a restaurant and hotel inside of a rock formation off I-10 by diablo stadium.

What kind of attire are we talking here?

Don & Charlies is the sh*t, but it's VERY hard to get a reservation on short notice.  In addition, it MAY not be "nice" enough for an anniversary.

Bamboo Club is good, but again, perhaps not "nice" enough.

One place I like alot is called Michaels.  Upscale dining, very nice atmosphere for occasions such as anniversaries and nice dates.  It's on Pima Rd. and Pinnacle Peak at the Citadel.  They have indoor and outdoor seating.  This is the kind of place that brings you your meal one plate at a time.  Very good wine selection, as well.  Map:

Boulders is off Scottsdale Rd., North of El Pedregal.

Another fine choice from what I've heard (haven't been to this one)is Mancuso's at the Borgata.  Scottsdale Rd around Lincoln.

I went to THE KEG a while back by chandler Mall and not only was the food awesome, the service and atmosphere was great. You won't ever see the same person twice serving you, one person for everything!

There is also one at Desert Ridge.  Good, but maybe not nice enough for the occasion.

Flemmings in Scottsdale, Very nice resturant not sure of the location. Best steak in town

This one is called The Buttes.  It's a Wyndham Resort.  Very upscale food taste.  It was too high scale for me and my wife. We did brunch there and they had caviar and escargot.





Another romantic place is The Melting Pot.  There are several locations around the valley, including Scottsdale and Ahwatukee.  You can request private booths that have curtains to separate you from the rest of the restaurant.  They have very good food.  Everything is served and cooked at the table in a fondue pot.  Check out : http://www.meltingpot.com/

Durant's is the typical classy smoking lounge. I used to go there for lunch on Fridays when I was still in high school.

Tarbell's on 32nd St and Camelback is very nice as well. In addition, there's also Donovan's, about 400 yards west of 32nd St and Camelback, which is an extension of the number one steak and chop house in America. All very good.

A caveat about Melting Pot is for what you get, it's VERY expensive. Bread, cheese, and a little meat for two people is like, 45 or 50 bucks.

Yea man, what is your budget? If there is no holds barred, then Mary Elaines at the Phoenician is freakin ubelievable. You also have Ruth's Chris, Maestro's, or The Ocean Club if seafood is your fancy.

I used to think Flemings was THE $H!T...that was until I went to Mastro's. Best Steaks in town!! Its also in N. Scottsdale. Major bucks but worth every penny.

I saw a lot of fancy places listed, but the one's I am going to list are not dressup types, just great food.

Da Vang--Vietnamese-I love the place-Pho Tai is great. 19th Ave/Indian School area

Thai Rama--Thai--Killer stuff/very hot--12th St/Camelback

My Mothers--American Chow--Tasty food--19th Ave/Indian School

Riattzi's--Italian--Leave the gun & take the Cannolli--Priest in Tempe

Capt. D's--hey its fried FISH, but good--Only 1 place in East Mesa

Still looking for a good Mexican place-My favoroite Casa Carmen burned

Uncle Sam's--P I Z Z A!!!!! Excellent Pizza--32nd St & Shea
