Well, the good choice in color was already picked by the marines.  My biggest problems is that the material burns really easy, even from ejected shell casings.  And when you get a new uniform, you have to spend like and hour and a half getting all of the damn strings off of it, then when you wash it, you have to do it again.

Aw, stop crying big sarge - you got A2CUs for Flame resistance!

UCP works fairly well in our AO.

I haven't had any uniform failures yet, but almost everyone else has.  It happens.  That what DXing is for.

As for skill tabs/badges, I'm not sure about that.  I'm all for tradition, but I really don't see the need these days.  Before you get riled-up Doc, understand that I'm wearing the same patch you did.  If I have to put it on/off everytime I change a uniform, the less the better.

When I wear aircrew DCUs it a flightbadge and a flag.  Around here, it's always the same folks, so everyone knows who you're with.  No need for unit patches even.  I guess I just like to express myself with the minimum required amount of flair. ;)

My velcro is fine.

As for ACUs as an airsoft uniform, there should be no complaints because you are not bound by the AR 670-1.  Airsofters are completely free to do whatever they please with their uniforms.  I get a kick out of airsofters complaining about the ACU when no one's making them wear it in the first place!

I would say 'where the fuck have you been' but unfortunately, that's a question to which I already know the answer.

John Lu is making us wear it!

Haven't seen any of those here Dave.

I've only talked to a couple snipers and they were running a custom bag for their XM110.  I think the pouches in the kit were Eagle, but I'm not sure who made the pack.  It was Khaki or Coyote.

All the regular Inf guys use issue.  The 82nd LRS-D have the Eagle kit (similar to the SFLCS/RLCS) in Khaki.  Other stuff I've seen is DBT, Paraclete, and a little Eagle.

Vince, who knew right?  ;)

As you previously mentioned azsarge,  you use better equipment airsofting than you get issued  in the Army.  I wonder if most of the airsoft guys realize that? :)  Anyways, was that Big Sarge comment a fat joke?!?!

I realized that on my first TA-50 issue.

I was left going, what the fuck,  people still use LBVs and Y harnesses?

Nope.  Keep track of that shit though, they still make you pay if it doesn't turn up at your next TA50 showdown.

Yep.  CIF or S4 will tell you the total and you'll provide the funds.  I don't know how somebody did it but they lost the frame and the kidney strap to their rucksack.  And it's also against Army Regulation to keep the stuff because you like it and just pay for it.

That didn't stop me from keeping a few choice items and taking the 10% markdown that CIF is required to give you for lost used equipment.

CIF...... heh-heh fellow soldiers, have you ever heard of "field loss" The Guard is great about it! write a note and say oops my bad! And if your in country you can damn near "field loss" everything but your pro-mask and weapon!

Hell since my motorcycle accident I was pulled off the gun line and am now the unit Supply Sgt on drill weekends. I write off everything I can that way my soldiers can get new gear, Gonna have ACH's for all our new guys real soon!

Oh and back to the topic, I hated ironing my cammies in the Marine Corps, when the digi's came out it was great cause no more boots to shine and no more ironing.

I've worn the BDU, the DCU and the ACU my favorite is the ACU, although I haven't wore it while depolyed. Its comfortable and doesn't require much maintince past the break in period.

I don't care about velcro pockets 'cause when we added pockets to our DCU's we had velcro pockets then too. Besides its kinda hard to be stealthy when your in a convoy of 200 trucks. like it was mentioned before I'm sure SF guys wear whatever they want, and what we the Joes have is plenty.

As far as the skill badges and all that other stuff, I never put any of my combat badges or skill badges on any of my DCU's even for coming home, I guess I never cared. you can't see skill badges through an IBA anyway.

I guess thats just the Marine in me, I wear a combat patch now but thats it, I rather not have anything pin-on

The only complant I have is the velcro name tapes, and the fact that you gotta wash them on cold inside out and dry them on very low, cause they shrink bad!

Funny story though, when the ACU's were being issued to units comming in country we thought it would be cool to trade with our replacements DCU's for ACU's 'till we noticed that ACU's meant "rookies" in "steve's" eyes and we quicly traded back.

One thing I like about the MCCUU is complete lack of "flair."

Here on the big base, we've got to wear some additional items to pacify the uniform nazis.  We're talking 9 pieces of flair!  I joke with people saying they look like airsofters with all those patches everywhere.

The Marines just have name, rank, and U.S. Marines.  I dig it.
