Actually there is nothing at all funny about this.  I am dead serious when I suggest that the involvement of minors in this sport WILL, without doubt, lead to a premature ban of the sport.  It's not so much a problem if immaturity as legality.  The anti-gun public doesn't view airsoft any differently than it views firearms.  It will not tolerate youths with guns.  Even the Boy Scouts have taken fire for having hte Rifle and Shotgun Merit Badges.  And those are earned and developed under close supervision, with a long tradition behind them.  If you persist in this, and ignore why I (and others) have been saying, then you will add to the probability that airsoft will be targeted far too soon.  Do NOT buy airsoft guns if you are not of legal age to do so.  Do not do it.  I'll never stop saying this because of how long it has taken airsoft to even find a market in the US, and because of how much I love the sport.  This is an adult activity, no different from many others you will be expected to wait for, like driving and killing yourselves with cigarettes.  Everyone pays if you decide to pridefully choose to continue on.  I don't dislike younger people at all.  I have great faith in them, in fact.  I don't like the youthful bantering on these forums, but it's the age gap.  This is a legal issue, folks.  Don't press the law or we all lose.

Kyle, I didn't mean the issue at hand was ammusing. What is ammusing was Harley's comment on you ability to write. [:)] Forgive me for the confusion.

I too feel that others at my age should wait. I only have a little bit to go. I have gotten involved earlier on that some, getting my first GBB at age 15. However, I feel that I could have put that money towards something else at the time. Firearms are not toys, but tools whether they sling lead or BB's. They CAN put an eye out, or in this case, get you shot if you handle them in the wrong way. I agree that misuse of airsoft could end in some form of regulation, but I don't think a complete ban would happen right off the bat. Airsoft would begin to be sold in firearms stores and regulated by the government, which would still suck.

However, I feel the same way about them as I do with firearms. The more you know, the less of a hazard you are, provided you're sane. [:)] Children can handle firearms at any age they wish, so long as an adult is present. I can handle my real-steel Beretta 96 so long as a parent is home. I feel airsoft should be handled the same way. We've all been a teen before. Most of us feel that, if our parents tell us NOT to do something, we'll do it. Now, I've only done that once or twice, but never with anything serious. If you keeps guns a secret from kids, it will remain an interesting mystery that they'll want to get their hands on, regardless of the consequences. Education is the key, and airsoft is a safe alternative to the real thing. Parents are what is needed, however.

Basher and Yankee,
You are the kind of young people that we need in this sport.  I know how hard it can be to just take someones word for granted, and not necessarily follow it because you beilieve it, but because you have no other choice.  It's part of being young.  Your ability to understand the restrictions, and abide by them becuase you feel it is whats right for us all in the long run shows maturity.  It also helps us older guys get the point across to those younger individuals who desire to partake in this activity.

(continued)
The game will be that much better when you finally are old enough, and you will enjoy it so much more, and at higher levels.  Spend the next few years studying up on your military history, and on topics such as military equipment, and Airsoft gear.  By the time you play, you will be a MILSIM genius!  It all takes time, lads.  It all takes time.
Best regards,
CAG

Ps here are a few places to get started:

www.lightfighter.net     (tactical gear forums)

ENJOY!
