Do we really have to put up with this kind of spamming....

I mean come on, this is ridiculous.  Once was enough, but in addition to posting useless crap in other topics he's making duplicate threads.  Really he's only had 2 posts of any use at all.

i dont mean to be an ass, because i agree with you, but still, that kind of thing is up to the mods. in any case, a lot of people start with totally useless and annoying posts, but eventually they start contributing, half way...

store owner maybe? movie prop? i dunno

Useless posts are one thing, but spamming WTB offers is another.  Plus given what he wants them for (not airsofting) I doubt he has any intention of becoming a contributing member of the forums.

To answer your question, yes we do have to put up with this kind of spamming. The mods have lives and jobs to do, they cant be policing the boards 24/7 and if you understood the banning process you would understand why it doesn't happen instantly. The mods are my friends and they do what they do with cool heads, besides you haven't said what you think should be done about this guy either.

Spam comes and goes. The worst offenders are the ones who stick around and consistently post stupid crap. This was a drop in the bucket compared to the waves of junk the older members of this board have put up with.

Besides this guy may be a friend of the mac-v guys, and in that case he may be a contributing member even though he may not know the difference between a CA and a TM.

I hope the mods delete this thread because it is rather useless.

I perfectly understand the banning process and if they don't have time I would be more than happy to do it for them.  I have spent plenty of time as an admin on phpbb boards and others.  It's probably better if you don't make assumptions about my knowledge regarding forum administration and moderation.

But I'm not even asking for a ban (yet) I just want those other threads locked and a warning delivered.  This is even easier then banning.  I am fully aware they have jobs and lives as do I.  That is why I hate having to swim through the amount of worthless posts appearing on forums these days.  I got on to find half a dozen unread posts, three of which were one person spamming his WTB and another was an utterly pointless 1 word post.  It takes less than 2 minutes to lock or delete a thread on phpbb if you have any idea what you are doing.  They can even test it out on this thread if they want to time it.  I can even provide instructions.  This is why I usually only spend about a year on AA before taking a break.

If the moderators don't have enough time to moderate the forum, then you need more moderators.  It is that simple.  Most other forums don't seem to have an issue locking/banning I'm not sure why this forum does.

This shows you don't understand the process. There is more to banning on here than just clicking buttons seeing as how the admin dosen't frequent the boards.

The mods do a good job, you need to do your own moderation and read only what you think is pertinent to you, and leave the moderation to the moderators.

No, there isn't.  While banning does require admin privs locking/deleting does not.  That was all I asked for and two mods were online at the time I was writing my previous message.  They had enough time to read the forums, it would have taken an extra 15 seconds after they read the thread to lock or delete it.

I don't see where this guy is spamming (at least not anything I would consider).  Each one of this post was about something else.  And one of his 4 total post was deleted.  His one post in KILO11's WTB SAW thread could have been posted in its own topic, but as you cannot start a topic until you have 2 post this is why he probably did that.  He probably just didn't understand the idea behind that was to post a intro.  From the looks of it, this guy is not an airsofter but merly a collector if military vehicles and such wishing to complete a look with the items he requested WTB's for.  One does not necessarily need to be an airsofter to post here.

This really is a drop in the bucket compared to several years ago, and I don't really see any relevance in complaining about this.

Well, he had 6 posts when I made this.  I suspect Raith deleted them because he was on earlier.

3 were WTB a M60/M249/etc
1 was in the AR-15 thread which consisted of: "AR-15"

He made a WTB topic.  Great, there obviously isn't a problem with that.  But then he posted it in another thread as well AND made a second topic about it.  Admittedly, I was in kinda a bad mood at the time because my internet was acting up and it literally took 3.5 minutes for the AR-15 page to load only to discover that nothing useful was added.

I'm not trying to start a witch hunt or anything, all I'm trying to say is it seems to me that it wouldn't hurt to have a little tighter rules/enforcement on useless posts.  The younger crowd especially seems to get the point if their topic keeps getting locked or deleted.  If needed get some more mods to help deal with it.  I'm sure you can find people you would trust on here to help with forum moderation.  I would certainly be happy to.

Well its certainly good that Raith was able to get on top of that right away.  Thanks Raith!

I apologize if I came off as defensive.  But try not to let your bad day get worse by venting someplace or on someone else.   ;)

For that I do apologize, but I still feel it wouldn't hurt to be a little stricter on the useless posts, especially by new people.  They have a habit of learning their lesson quicker if it is dealt with rather than ignored.

Thanks for reading the thread anyways.  Feel free to lock it now.  ;)
