conflicting information.
« on: June 23, 2008, 10:10:40 PM »
WGC says the TM M14 SOCOM uses an EG700 motor, but Redwolf says it uses an EG1000. Which is it? and i assume the gearbox is a 6mm format. Which makes the 7mm CA M14 Scout appealing.

CA mags suck, but are the CA M14's built better than TM's?

p.s. My goal here, is to get some sort of short M14 and put on one of these.... http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.php?itm=NV-GRIP-M14HG_srch_M14 effectively creating something close to a Springfield SOCOM II.

The non-SOCOM version is an EG700 with a 6mm gearbox.

From what I've been reading, the TM Socom has an EG700 motor.

As an owner of a TM M14, I love them.  An advantage is that the hopup adjustment is in front of the magwell, so you can be adjusting hopup between shots.  That said, a buddy of mine has the CA version and loves his.

is it then implied that the SOCOM version is a 7mm with an EG1000?

I used to own a CA M14 standard and I liked it enough, the lack of a NON-hi cap mag sucks though.

From what i've seen, people like the TM better than the CA, on account of the CA being more like the G&G. (which to a lot of whom I've spoken is a large turn-off)

Conflicting info on the SOCOM seems to be the norm, I still dont know what the inner barrel length...

Are you looking to do something like this?

If so Echo 1 sells a pretty cheap Rail system for the M14 that is sturdy enough for airsofting, but I have to admit the other kits look alot better...

Here are the photos I took of mine when I upgraded the bushings and spring:

Sadly the motor is covered up... :(

I'm pretty sure it uses the same motor as the standard M14 though.

That looks pretty cool, thanks for the pics, Kiley. My only problem is that it's an Echo 1 and I have my heart set on the rail I linked to, as it's closest to the real thing that I've found.
