I've heard good things about the GI guns... personally, I would be afraid I would break the poly body.
But I treat my DMR pretty badly... that might be because I know it can take it though.

I'd go for the M14.  You get proline internals versus semi-sportline internals.  (CM, which has a few different parts)  G&G M14 comes with a stock tightbore while the CM does not.

If you are building a DMR, the M14 is a better base because it has a better hop up unit (AUG), stronger gearbox (V7), and everyone and their mom has an armalite. :)

Have you considered the new KWA SR12's? They shoot 400 out of the box and have a ROF of 20bps if that is any help.

The Airsoft GI G4 A5 DMR is basically "dressed up" G&G.  The body is made out of the poly fiber whatever the hell it is, which is really strong and looks much better than ABS.  Airsoft GI actually has a video where they take the A4 A5 (might not be the DMR, but same thing) and drop it a couple times from 8 feet in the air, and it doesn't break.  The FPS is a little low on the 330ish side, however it is meant to be upgraded.  I heard it shot something like at least 18 bps on full auto with a 9.6v, maybe a bit higher.  So the G4 A5 DMR is also good for medium range as well.   I was hoping to buy one this holiday season, so I thought I should share some of the info that I researched :).    (also comes with 6.03 inner barrel which is pretty tight).  Its a good bang for your buck, you can upgrade a lot of the internals so it shoots well over 400fps for less than a kwa sr12. Hope that helps

The G&G and CA M14 gearboxes do not use ANY V7 parts, and are NOT v7 gearboxes. The V7 gearbox is much weaker than the G&G and CA M14 gearboxes...

Having said that, G&G offers a version of their M14 that chronos at ~430 w/ .20's.  It's called the G&G M14 Veteran, and is about 360$ for a full metal full wood M14 with a bullet proof gearbox.  It is literally a hop up rubber and nub away from being a tack driver.

As a good suggestion, replace the piston head with a #14 O-ring.  Mine now chronos at 390 w/ .25's up from 383 w/ .25's stock.  I can reach 80 yards (Laser range found) and be 50% confident I'll hit what I'm aiming at with .25's.  I've got some .28's that I'm going to try and push closer to 100 yards of range, and maybe not get there, but thats ok :P

The asgi g4 series seems to be pretty dang good.  I own the g4-18 cqbr and its one of the best guns i own.  it shoots 19 bps with an intellect 9.6. the g4 series are all the same g&g combat machine m4 on the inside so i would recomend the g4.  just so this isnt bias i have shot the g&g m14 and it has amazing accuracy but the bbs move sllloooooowww. :x not a huge deal but it bugged me.  i think it shoots 290 with .25s   so i wasnt blown away.   i would get the g4. :D
