okay so i recieved my G&G m14 today.  didn't go for the ebr version just went for the standard version, since i had to pay for my kid's plane ticket.  As soon as i took it out of the box the bolt catch flung off.  i found the parts and put it back together but it doesn't function.  I'm guessing its probably just for looks, or maybe its defective. besides that so far no real complaints.  it seems to be built pretty solid.  I have a RIS heat shield on the way.  Hopefully it fits.  No chance to do any real testing with it.  Gonna charge the battery tonight then take it to work and see how it works out, maybe make a review video there and post it on Youtube.

What do you mean it doesnt function?  If you pull back on the bolt and push down on the bolt catch it will (or should anyway) catch the Bolt back so you can adjust the hop up.  It doesnt do it automatically because thats pointlessly stupid.  :P

what are you talking about? the hop up adjustment is in the magazine well.  The "Mock" bolt and slide are just that MOCK, totally non functioning and only there for looks.  I was referring the bolt catch intended to lock the "MOCK" bolt to the rear, and when i say it doesn't function it doesn't function, as in it doesn't lock the "MOCK" bolt to rear.  If it did then i would have to pull the slide back a 1/4" to release it back to the forward position.

On another note the RIS Heat shield arrived today and installed with no problems, so echo1 parts worked on this gun.  I was going to give it a paint job, but the stock is a sorta coated with a rubberized material, and probably wouldn't take to being painted too well, so i'll make do with it.   Did a firing test and for the most part its pretty accurate.  It came with a scope mount but i haven't added a scope.  The iron sights work just fine.  Hop up "which once again is located in the magazine well" adjusted fine and its got about a 150-175ft range with accuracy.  I was able to hold a pretty tight group at about 50 ft.  I'd say its somwhere around 325 maybe 340 FPS,  Not too shabby but there's mod's to ramp it up, but I'll make do with it as is for now.

Thanks to the board for all the advice,  I took most of it into consideration before purchasing and definately helped me from making an impulse buy.

Uhm... what you got is definetly NOT a G&G then... the G&G is NOT a TM compat gun... the Hop Up unit on a G&G M14 is an AUG hop up unit located under the bolt.  The Bolt Lock DOES work, at least it has on the 3 G&G M14's and 2 CA M14's (Close copies of the G&G system) I've owned...  You are correct for TM models but not for G&G guns.

thanks for the heads up,  it looks like i'll be making an inquiry since it was packed in a g&g box,  and that's what i ordered.

Yeah, if the hop up unit is accessed through the magwell like the following picture: (Ignore blurryness)

Then you have a TM or clone, the G&G M14 is accessed through pulling back on the charging handle.  The Heel of the reciever should be marked G&G Armament (behind the front sight post).

The G&G Magwell looks like this, but with the stock around it:

As you can see, no hop up adjustment in the magwell!

Curious, where did you order yours from?!

Can you take a picture of your rifle, the magwell and the area behind the rear sight (the flat spot on the receiver) as well as under the bolt?

I'd also get in contact with that Amazon seller as well as Amazon for a retailler of theirs selling you something that it isnt under a name that it isnt and suggest that seller on Amazon be removed, thats straight up dirty business... the gun you got is most likely a Kart or AGM... without pictures I can't tell you for certain.

I can take a pic as soon as i get back to the house, i'm at the office right now, but i dissassembled it and its a combination of a few manufacturers actually.  And i've already sent in a report to amazon as well as an email to the seller.  Most of the gun I'm guessing is TM and other parts to include the stock, and the trigger assembly are Echo 1.  Quite a dissappointment, but thats what i get for trying to be thrifty and buy on Amazon,  I've had better luck with Ebay.  On a good note though it does have a mad bull spring, i'm guessing unless another manufacturer makes andonozied blue springs.

Vanaras does, but it's most likely the Madbull.

That sucks man, truely, straight up shaddy businesses drive me crazy.  If you think that gun feels good, wait till you get the G&G, a whole other world better :)  Unless you plan on keeping the one you've got?

well if i resell it, i'm selling it honestly thats for sure.  Kinda sucks losing money.  It's decent enough but not what I had believed i bought.  Happened before on amazon, I bought a set of technic sl-1200's and ended up with some gemini's.  Did get my money back on that however.  Hoping for the same here. I think Now i'll just save up to get a good m 14 ebr like i had intended to begin with, and this time by from a trusted site.  $500 is an okay price if I'm guaranteed to get what I want.  right now my next buy is a blow back m9.
