okay so i recieved my G&G m14 today. didn't go for the ebr version just went for the standard version, since i had to pay for my kid's plane ticket. As soon as i took it out of the box the bolt catch flung off. i found the parts and put it back together but it doesn't function. I'm guessing its probably just for looks, or maybe its defective. besides that so far no real complaints. it seems to be built pretty solid. I have a RIS heat shield on the way. Hopefully it fits. No chance to do any real testing with it. Gonna charge the battery tonight then take it to work and see how it works out, maybe make a review video there and post it on Youtube.
What do you mean it doesnt function? If you pull back on the bolt and push down on the bolt catch it will (or should anyway) catch the Bolt back so you can adjust the hop up. It doesnt do it automatically because thats pointlessly stupid.
what are you talking about? the hop up adjustment is in the magazine well. The "Mock" bolt and slide are just that MOCK, totally non functioning and only there for looks. I was referring the bolt catch intended to lock the "MOCK" bolt to the rear, and when i say it doesn't function it doesn't function, as in it doesn't lock the "MOCK" bolt to rear. If it did then i would have to pull the slide back a 1/4" to release it back to the forward position.
On another note the RIS Heat shield arrived today and installed with no problems, so echo1 parts worked on this gun. I was going to give it a paint job, but the stock is a sorta coated with a rubberized material, and probably wouldn't take to being painted too well, so i'll make do with it. Did a firing test and for the most part its pretty accurate. It came with a scope mount but i haven't added a scope. The iron sights work just fine. Hop up "which once again is located in the magazine well" adjusted fine and its got about a 150-175ft range with accuracy. I was able to hold a pretty tight group at about 50 ft. I'd say its somwhere around 325 maybe 340 FPS, Not too shabby but there's mod's to ramp it up, but I'll make do with it as is for now.
Thanks to the board for all the advice, I took most of it into consideration before purchasing and definately helped me from making an impulse buy.
