Echo 1 M4 shooting off to the left?
« on: July 18, 2010, 11:26:53 PM »
I love my Echo 1 M4A1, however I have one small issue with it. The gun, from the moment I fired the first BB, shoots off to the left a bit. Now, all I had to do was adjust the rear sight off to the right a bit, and it aims perfectly straight. Though I've just stuck with the easy fix, and it hasn't caused an issues for me whatsoever in skirmishes or target practice, I'm curious....why does it do this? Other than that the gun works perfectly. Oh and if it helps at all my friend's JG M4 does the same thing but is also otherwise problem-free. So does anyone know the cause of this? And more importantly, how to maybe fix it (preferably without having to spend any money :P)? Thanks!

It doesn't really sound like a problem other then the sights. If that is not the case your barrel may be dirty or your hop up nub may be a little off camber.

How many rounds have you shot through your AEG?
How often do you clean your AEG?
How do you clean your AEG?

If you can answer these questions we may be able to pin point where your problem may be coming from.

I think its what TheBoy said, the sights.  I have an Echo 1 too, and my back sight is adjusted to the right.  It seems wierd, the back sight is closer to the right edge than the middle, but it shoots straight where the sights point.

your outer barrel may be seated slightly crooked... or your inner barrel inside that... or maybe the body doesn't sit perfectly in line with everything else.

If it hits in the same place reliably, then you don't have a problem, just something isn't lined up or seated perfectly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

To be clear, are your BBs shooting to the left or are they curving to the left?

Some possible solutions:
If they are just shooting to the left, then your outer barrel isn't seated correctly.
If they are curving to the left, then your hop up nub is off-center as previously mentioned.

Hmm I suppose the rear sight thing is one possibility, though I don't reall think that's the case. I clean my gun after every game, and after every couple target practices. I use the cleaning rod it came with and a tissue put through the top of the cleaning rod. I always keep my gun clean though, so I don't think that's the issue. And it's not curving to the left, it's actually shooting straight, just off to the left a bit. I've checked the inner and outer barrels...they seem to be perfectly straight. Could be the hop up chamber-misalignment thing. Oh also I'm using .20g BBs.

@ Schwer_Punkt_91 You said something about the outter barrel not being 'seated correctly'? If that were the issue, how would I fix that? Also how would I fix it if the hop-up nub was off-center? Just exploring some possibilities. Thanks for the help!

Its an airsoft rifle, they are incredibly inconsistent. if you keep your barrel clean and the problem still occurs, just accept the fact that airsoft Rifles are not consistent  :|

My apartment is infested with koala bears. Its the cutest infestation ever. Much better than cockroaches. I turn the lights on and a bunch of koala bears scatter. I\'m like, come back! I want to hold one of you, and feed you a leaf. -Mitch Headberg
