Condor Molle Thigh Platform. Do you have one?
« on: August 13, 2010, 07:06:40 AM »
I am curious about the Condor molle thigh platform(or similar). Has anyone used it? What did you have on it, how much weight on it? Does it stay put on your leg if you have thin legs like me? I would be planning to use it for my 40mm shell loadout. I noticed that HSGI has a platform specifically for 40mm shells but it is kinda pricey. Has anyone had any experience with that? Any feedback is appreciated.

not good for chicken legs. It's pretty big... someone with thin legs might not be able to actually attach it, and with how the attachments work, it doesn't like to wrap around small cylinders.

That being said, if you can get it on your leg, it holds securely (there's rubber grip stuff put onto the inside of the straps) and holds plenty of weight (I've used it to hold a 1911, 4 mags for it, a plastic grenade (filled with bb's, weighed in around 1.5lbs), and 4 metal VN style hicaps). I liked mine for a long time while I used it.

If you have never used a leg rig of any kind before, I would recommend trying someone's before you buy one. They aren't for everybody.

I use to have a few.

I'm on the smaller side, and as axis said it's a total PITA. Even fully adjusted the thing would swing around and put all the weight onto my belt. It was fine for the bare minimum like 4 P90 mags, but once you add weight it becomes unwieldy and swings around. Most Condor gear designed for Waists and Thighs I had issues with.

Thanks for the input guys. I was kinda shying away from the idea already but wanted to see if someone could reassure me that they work ok. I am taking the role of demo man for my team and would have at least half a dozen 40mm shells on me.

I used one for my 1911 and a spare clip. It worked well for me. Only issue I ever had was the rig would hit my mag releae so it drop the mag out

I've got one and it works great, I just ordered a rig so i can put my serpa holster on it.  I'm thinking about getting one for my other leg to put some primary magazine pouches on.
