G&P WOC M4 CQB
« on: November 10, 2010, 04:57:59 PM »
I just got my new G&P rifle today, figured I'd post up some quick pics of it. So far I LOVE it. The receiver pins are stiff as hell to push in and out but otherwise its been an absolute joy to shoot.

For those unfamiliar it is basically a Western Arms M4A1 with a G&P full metal body conversion and a few other small upgrades.
Once I've had it for a while and take it out to at least one game I'll do my best to post a full review. This is going to be my new MBR so hopefully its as reliable as I have read elsewhere!

Edit: The flashhider and silencer are a Dytac QD unit, the stock flash hider is just a normal birdcage flashider. I'm debating having the whole rifle multicam dipped.

Update: Dont buy King Arms brand magazines for G&P / WA M4's. They will not chamber properly. I ordered 6 of them and none of them will chamber a BB into the gun and 3 leaked out of the box. Gotta return them all the way back to HK on my own dime. Live and learn.

Thank god im buying a G&P WOC-X Defender this x-mas, and I was going to buy King Arms Magazines. What would you recommend, those were the only cheap mags I could find.

I ended up buying a lot of G&P brand mags from redwolf while waiting to resolve the paypal dispute with ehobbyasia. Yea, had to start a dispute because they wouldnt let me return them because as they put it "all gas mags leak" even though I was within their return policy.

Interestingly the G&P mags I purchased separately are slightly different than the one that was included with the gun. The fill valves are the externally noticeable difference. But so far they are holding gas.

Update:

I took the gun to fighter town for a few games on sunday, it performed perfectly in the 70 degree weather. Charged with propane it was consistently shooting 360fps with propane and .25's so about 402fps w/ .20's.

Unfortunately after about 20 magazines into the game, I started getting misfires a lot, and every so often a mag would just vent its entire contents out the ejection port instead of cycling the bolt.

After a while it stopped firing altogether. I retired it for the day after I discovered this little surprise:

The nozzle had been all smashed in, as well as the little arm that chambers the round.

So I ordered a replacement piece, this one made out of steel, awaiting on its arrival.

This is definitely not the gun for someone who wants something cool but inexpensive. With the cost of the new bolt which is on its way here, I've got a little over $1000 invested into it and I've been cost consciously shopping around.

I hear the Bolt nozzle is a common problem on the G&P WOC, what replacement did you order? In fact even the non "X" series nozzles break out of the box.

I ordered the JDT steel bolt and nozzle, it seems pretty much indestructible. Its pretty close to an exact clone of the Inokatsu bolt, some speculate its just Ino selling unbranded ones which undergo less QC and sold under a different name just to get a higher volume onto the market for higher profits.

Ive seen on some sites that it needs modding to work reliably but after a few small mods with a dremel and possibly some lightening if you want a faster cyclic rate it seems to be a fine piece.

For now I'm waiting on a 2roy nylon nozzle from evike that I just ordered to tide me over til my bolt gets here from ebairsoft since their shipping takes forever..

Just installed a magpul B.A.D. Lever on the weapon. It SIGNIFICANTLY reduces time spent reloading and fixing malfunctions. This is a real steel piece (which costs a lot less than the airsoft version) that required a bit of modification to fit the receiver of the G&P body. With the mods it'll still fit my real steel m4 should I choose to switch it back to it.

Also debating on building a 20" upper for sniping purposes, but with a CA m24 SOCOM and Sun Project M40a1 in my arsenal already its hard for me to justify the expense  ](*,)

Just a spare nozzle/bolt of your choosing. Other than that its a pretty decent weapon. Perhaps a tight-bore barrel as well since the stock one is 6.08mm. I'll leave the argument of which barrel brand is best for another place.

Update:

2Roy bolt: Total garbage, not machined within spec to fit inside a WA/G&P bolt carrier. Dont waste your time with one.

JDT NPAS BCG ($130): Crap. Out of the box, doesnt work. Requires a LOT of modification to work properly and even then because of its heavy weight is a total gas hog.

G&P NPAS BCG($89): Not bad, but the plastic nozzle deformed after about 1000 rounds.

AABB NPAS chrome BCG($18): Working flawlessly so far. I have 2 spares since they are so cheap, but since they have aluminum nozzles I'm not terribly worried. The chrome just like in the real steel really helps by acting as a friction reducer making the weapon cycle more reliably.

Conclusion: AABB setup is definitely the winner. It is non-adjustable and chronoed it yesterday @ 370FPS average w/ .25's using greengas and the stock 210mm barrel.

AABB bolt (extra bolt outside the weapon to show it, the bolt installed in the weapon is also another AABB bolt):
