pull string firework smoke grenades?

I got one of these at a firework stand on new years eve.  I tried it out and it worked pretty good.  Wouldn't laydown a huge screen, but was sufficient for cqb etc..  I like the fact there pull string, any opinions on these?  Are these a lot cheaper then "real" smoke grenades or a cheesey waste of time?

I bought like 10 of these just to mess around with and I agree they actually work somewhat well. Only problem is that when you pull the string a huge flame flies out of the top of the grenade which could cause some problems in the dry Arizona Desert

When I was at Fightertown staffing the 18 and under game we hosted, one of the kids was using them on field 3. They are great for CQB, but for larger areas you could try tossing more than one at a time since they seem to be fairly inexpensive. Just make sure to hold the grenade until the initial flame dies off(1-2 seconds) and then toss it.

Fields will actually let you use that kind of thing out here?  I figured (for some odd reason) that they would have some kind of policy against things like that...  Of course I would ask first were I to want to try it out.

Depends on the field and the game. Out at Fightertown it has to be no exposed flame. That is why you hold it til the ignition is done, then toss. There is only a flame for the first moment while it gets going. The owner of Fightertown allowed the player to use them.

I want some! Anywhere I can still get them cheaply (or even at all) after New Years?
