God how I love technology and the military together! Hell, if it hadn't been for the cold war we'd be throwing rocks at each other for fun hehe!

That's very cool!  It seems it might be easily integrated into the active camoflage idea.  Cover a uniform with these small screens, and project what is behind the soldier.  Baby steps...baby steps

All this stuff just seems like sci fi to me.  I am very excited to see what the warfighter of 2030 will look like and have up his sleeve!  Hopefully, we can keep Republicans in office so the budgets stay high[;)].

Thanks for the link, John!

azsarge, naw, they have the same problem as standard flat panel screens, in that they are only really viewable from one angle, they fade out after that, and its a problem inherent in the base design that all the modifications are holding too.  the active camo programs are working on different styles of emmiters, including an interesting one in which a group of individuals carry uniform worn emitters that project onto team mates, allowing a group to cover each other, helping in the angles problem.  Also, interesting to hear you say that about funding.  as clinton pushed through the largest increase in r and d dollars, whereas President Bush (see, i remembered the capital b this time) has created a nearly negligible increase in r and d dollars, and in fact NO increase in r and d, not even for inflation, until this latest budget.
