Mil-Sim Idea
« on: April 24, 2011, 05:41:41 PM »
Hey guys, I was watching a documentary on a battle in Iraq, and I thought it would make for an intense Mil-Sim!  So, I changed it a little bit to add some more spice, and here's what I've got:

Invasion of Fallujah

U.S. Marines invaded Fallujah in 2003, only to receive orders to stop their offensive.  They took hold in various buildings and did their best to defend themselves against Opposing Forces (Op For).  Marine Rescue Teams (MRT) breached the town and searched the buildings for surviving Marines.  They extracted them out of the town to safety.

Teams

Marine Corps
Uniform- Desert (brown)
"Game Plan"- Push through the town until given orders to stop and take cover.  Proceed to defend yourselves in buildings until extracted.

Op For
Uniform- Civilian/ Taliban clothing (baclavas, etc.)
"Game Plan"- Defend your town against Marines.  When they take cover in buildings, breach them and try to take the Marines as hostages.  When the MRT come, defend the biuldings and try to retain the hostages.

MRT
Uniform- ACU
"Game Plan"- Escort the trapped Marines to safety.

This is the general idea of what would happen.  Let me know what you think!
Also, if anybody has any ideas of where this could happen, how I could include the MRT more, or just some pointers or ideas, I would be happy to hear.

I foresee some difficulties.
1) It would be difficult to find a big enough town or enough buildings.
2) It would be difficult to balance the team to get the game result you want. You need marines to be able to push opfor then get trapped.
3) I don't think many people would enjoy being held as hostages; airsofters like to be shooting.
4) I have found capture and hostage rules to be very difficult to run effectively.
