Like I mentioned above, I thought it might have been the switch. I wasn't sure if the G36 has a similar switch to the m4, so I wasn't going to give any advice.[

About the missing piece, you can make another from metal rod available from ACE, or a local hobby shop. Take a look at your buddies to get an idea, and recreate it. I had to do this for my M4 selector switch. It takes about 15 minutes to fix, a bit more if you're not sure what to do. I used aluminum rod as it is soft and easy to work with. Start with a rod the same diameter as the largest part of the missing piece. File it down to look like the original. It's just a quick fix, and will hold you off until you can find a replacement, but don't just do this and leave it. The aluminum wears down quickly.
