I own a CYMA aks74u and have dealt with CYMA products before, there honestly amazing guns for the price. bought my ak for 100 bucks full metal real wood (not very good wood or metal) and use it for field shoots 370 stock and works great. Another great maker of airsoft guns is JG i had a sig 552 by them and it performed well and was cheap, in fact some newer jg models come with cheap mosfets built in (they dont do much but they work). I absolutely hate Echo 1 for their bad pistons and overpricing for just a jg clone with some trades or poor internal "upgrades" having owned an echo 1 too. CA sportlines are 100% trash in my book, the internals make me cry there so bad. G&G are in my opinion one of the best makers of airsoft guns in the catagory of price and quality. The Gearbox is amazing and good stock parts throughout except for the motors, The hopup is the best one i have ever seen come stock and I think it has to do with the buckings. KWAs are great guns but the only problem is the proprietary parts, but thats easy to get over. I also own a VFC (echo 1 platinum) and love that thing to death, built like a tank, only problems is it uses alot of juice to power the gun and batteries die quickly (probably these stupid fuses). CYMA makes good Aks and m14s. Anything else made by them I would be wary.  Hope I helped!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. From what I can see, JG is a good way to go for someone on a strict budget like me. I'm currently juggling between getting the JG M4 S-System (because after the Army, I want something similar to what I carried around for 3 months) and the JG MK36K (because a. I like G36 models and b. The Echo1 G36 I used to have and love is now too expensive.) I have owned 3 Echo1's in my life and 2/3 were amazing. One being an M249 Para and the other a G36K. The M16 stopped working unless I held it upside down. Of the 2 I'm thinking of, what would you all recommend? (looking at airsoftgi.com)

The only reason I don't have the 2 great guns I used to is because the SAW got stolen out of my house and the G36 I had to sell in dire need of monies.

G&G Combat Machines are the overall BEST lower priced AEG you can go with because their geatbox performance is the best
I realize that while most people suck, there are still some genuine characters that exist out here. I'll show my appreciation by being genuine in return.
Love the sport.

Performance maybe. What about reliability?

Their motors seem to heat up very fast.

All the G&Gs Ive had experince with worked great. Never noticed the motors getting hot, then again I dont run around the field with bare hands. As far as M4s go Im partial to ICS, Ive owned 3 of them and never had a problem with any of them. If you want a good G36 Ares makes the best I have seen so far, with the exception of having to remove the EBB system. Im sure the KWAs are good too but Ive never used one. Since I know your looking towards the cheaper side right now, keep an eye out on here for G&G m4s, Ive seen a few running from 110 to 125.

Just because you spend more money on a gun does not make it more immune to failure. I've had VFC(piston stripped) and G&P(sector gear axle failure) fail on me after only a few thousand rounds. A friends KWA(spun bevel gear) failed pretty quick. Then again, I've also witnessed may cousins KWA go for 100,000+ rounds without ever being opened up. Still going strong at 345 fps and 23 rps on 11.1v lipo.

In short, don't blow all your chips on a gun. Make sure you have some coin left over cause you will want to save for a rainy day. Not to mention, everyone likes to accessorize to make a gun their own.

What about A&K? They sell an M249 for cheaper than anyone else I've seen. Should I be worried?

like hdrox said any brand will be the same, its all based on your luck haha like him, iv seen really expensive guns crap after few thousand rounds, and some last for millions of rounds. and even some cheap china guns last for years, and some last for 1 game

some more expensive brands have better quality control than the cheaper brands but that still doesnt mean 100% of there guns are going to be the shit out of the box.

i wouldnt suggest a a&k m249 to anyone that doesnt know how to work on a gun, about 90% of them come with a broken box mag, and they all have garbage e-switch's in there trigger that fail extreamly fast. if it doesnt come broken in the first place.

but there a good upgrade platform for somone wanting to make one on the cheaps.
