I don’t mean to be out of line and I’m not trying to foster discontent among AA members or disrespect to the owner(s) of this site but I would like to respond to a couple of comments made to me in Matt’s departure thread seeing how there is a real possibility some of us are going to be meeting in person at future events.
Paco, I don’t appreciate obnoxious moderators initiating a conversation with me in a profane and insulting manner and then see them receive the support of the site’s admin as was my experience at airsoft players. Big board or not, I don’t take that crap from anyone. I don't care if the site weighed fifty pounds and the owner birthed it through his penis. And I don’t much appreciate the moderator “Kob†over at airsoft retreat running around like some kind of tight butted control freak. Yeah, I recognize that these are privately owned sites and that the owner’s can run their sites however they damn well please. I’m not arguing that point. However, in a sport/hobby such as ours (airsoft), I expect a degree of fair play and honor. And that includes on the sites that purport to represent our sport. I’m sincerely concerned about sending my son to some of these games if they are being run by arrogant bullies who care only about their little group of buddies.
Matt, I can’t help but suspect that your request for me to pm you so we can set up a time and place for you to “show me what you’re all about†was nothing less than a threat. I don’t take kindly to threats, Matt. You may very well be tougher than me but you certainly aren’t smarter. I would never willingly put myself in that type of situation with a man I knew nothing about. I’m no stranger to violence. I’m a former active duty US Marine and a retired police officer. I have had people try to shoot me with weapons ranging from a full auto Mac-10, a .308 scoped rifle, a shotgun and various handguns and weapons of unknown make and caliber (sniper attacks). And they weren’t always unsuccessful. I’ve had people try to stab me with items ranging from screw drivers, a carpet cutter, a butcher knife, and various other assorted knives and sharp instruments. I can’t even come close to counting all the times hostile individuals have attempted to physically assault me. Does that kind of experience make me a tough guy? Hardly. But you better damn well believe that I’m a survivor. Attempt to cause me or my son harm at one of these events, and you’ll find out just how much of a survivor I am because I’m sure as hell not going to let a peanut head like you prevent me from participating in the sport.
And Paco, I’m real disappointed that you would let the kind of threat Matt made remain on this board. Yeah, I know. It’s your site. I realize that at times I have sort of a fk’d up sense of humor and could probably use a little Deepak Choapra myself, but have I said anything that deserved that kind of hostility?
