An orange will not keep you from being handcuffed or shot by a cop they will see a GUN Orange tip or not plain and simple.
Me and my friends have had cops called on us twice while airsofting. Neither of those times did any of us get shot or cuffed. One cop understood what they were immediately and said he even used to airsoft. The other cop stayed and refereed a game out of curiosity. You sound like you don't trust ANY police...
This post makes me angry.
Because you got the cops called on you, you obviously weren't playing somewhere appropriate and are risking your life.
My father is a detective for MCSO, and before that we was a patrolman for over a decade. He took one of my M4's into work with him one day, and everybody there looked at it, held it, shot it and messed around with it. Every one of them said if they pulled up on somebody holding this they would shoot them. Evil, you may have gotten lucky, but it's still not something you want to fuck around with. When I was a freshman in highschool, I almost got shot because of airsoft. This isn't a joke, or a matter of trusting the police. The police don't trust you. They never know who you are, why you have a gun, what your intentions are. So until they disarm you, and talk to you, they're going to have their guard up.
Ive had cops called on my over a dozen times in the last decade+ of airsoft and all but two were in places that were 100% legal, and the other two were poorly designated whether they were BLM or trust land.
Just because its legal to play there doesn't mean someone won't call the cops on you. Whether its legal to play somewhere or not, if they get a call that there are armed terrorists with ak-47 rifles loading up and preparing to assault the nuclear power plant, they're going to show up guns hot.
Yes, that was a real call that someone did on us back around 2004 or so when we were out near the desert near MTT on BLM land that was 100% legal to play on. I don't even remember how many SUV's full of cops came for that call. Either way, we talked to them for about 3 minutes, they packed up and left, and we kept playing.
