Uh you dont really need a fuse.... you can just connect the wires directly and it will work.

Also another thing that  it might be is that your battery is dead. Because that THunk sound is your motor not being able to crank the spring back. And when you got it back from Ron what did he do with it... did he upgrade it? If he upgraded it then that batery might not be able to pull the spring back.

Sounds like you way overcharged your battery.  Do you have a multi-meter?  If so put it on the battery and make sure it is in the range of 8-12.
Also dischage it properly and then let it cool, then charge again but don't overcharge.
I had the same problem with mine, I discharged it and recharged it and it worked fine.

Use this equation to charge your battery correctly:
Battery Capacity + 10%/ Charger output= hours charged time.

ron didnt do anything to it, i bought it from him... he got 4 in on wed and we bought 3... i charged my battery from 9pm last night til 6pm today.... isnt that long enough?  and the battery was very very warm when i got home and put it in the gun...

Edit-

oops cobra.. you posted as i was posting.  Well the charger i got with the gun from ron is VERY basic.. just a plug for the wall, some wire, and the plug for the battery.  I do not have a multi-meter though.. so i have no clue how to test it.  Also i have no clue how to discharge the battery.  the charger is only a charger...

So put that into the equation and it will tell you how long to charge, for that battery you WAY WAY over charged and you may have ruined it.  To discharge you can get a TM discharger for like 15 bucks new or someone probably has one you can borrow or get for cheap.
Or you can make your own by soldering some 12V light bulbs together and then attaching them to the battery, then when the bulbs become dim take them off the battery.  Not as accurate as a TM discharger or as safe but it will suffice.  That is what I use, cept I use Halogen light bulbs.

Hey bud I don't know what you were smoking to think that it needed to be charged that long! Heres something to know: as soon as a NIMH battery increases more than 1-2degrees in temp that means its DONE. You basicly fried the ****er! Nice work pal.

I actually left my old 8.4V 600mah on the charger for like 3 days, I forgot about it and saw it sitting there, almost too hot to touch.  It was ruined!!!  But I never used that thing anyway.
LOL so don't feel too bad.

LOL well at least it was my first one... and as for what i was smokin.. i was TOLD to keep it charging, and i was TOLD that a trickle charger couldnt over charge the battery. The only experiance ive had with rechargable batteries in my life are simple AA and cell phone (LiIon) batteries... both of which can be left on the charger as long as you want.  live and learn i guess.....

anybody recomend an inexpensive place to pick up a new one? and maybe a charger/discharger?

You do not NEED to discharge NiMHs.  Doesn't hurt, but not required like with NiCd.

But I'm sure you already know that.

Moral of the story?  Know what the heck you are doing beforehand, or get a charger that does the thinking for you.  I have a Duratrax Intellipeak Pulse charger (about 45-50 bucks from Tower Hobbies http://www.towerhobbies.com), and it works great.  It will exercise the pack, or just discharge/peak charge it.  It has many functions that include Discharge, peak charge (at any rate from 0.5-6.5 Amps), and slow charge (100 mA).  It will combine any of these functions, and has cool colored lights.

You aren't the first person that didn't bother to do a search, and fried their pack.  It sucks, but it could have been prevented had you been aware of the consequences.  Best of luck to you next time around!

edit:  heres a link to my charger

Yep you killed that battery allright.  4 hours is all you needed for a full charge on that one.

I posted this not too long ago and made it a sticky topic so it would be right at the top of the AEG forum.  You guys need to look around a little more.

AEG problem...
« Reply #14 on: May 20, 2004, 09:54:57 PM »
Ok.. im having a real ****ty day and ive got nowhere else to turn.  I got my AEG from Ron last night... i had no BB's and had to charge my battery over night. I got some bb's today and came home to a very warm carged battery.  I fill my mag, i pop the bat. in, and pull the trigger....  CLUNK... i try again... CLUNK.  I switch to full auto... CLUNK.  Ok.. check the battery... red to red.. .black to black.. everything is fine.  I pull the mag out and check for a jam... nope.  Ok.. lets try again.  CLUNK.  CLUNK...CLUNK...NOTHING. umm ok.. now it wont even make the clunk sound.  Check the battery again... fine.. check the fuse... BLOWN.  I pull the battery out and its blazin hot.  I let it rest and head out to find a new 20A 250V fuse....but much to my dismay nobody has them.  I checked 2 auto parts stores, super walmart, and radio shack.  I also called hobby bench.  So i decide to grab a 20A 32V fuse set instead.  Well the new fuse hasnt blown yet, but it still just makes a clunk noise each time i pull the trigger.  There is no sound of the motor spinning or wirring like the working ones ive heard.  I dont know for sure, but it almost sounds like a piston is goin back and letting go each time.. i feel it in the grip and behind where the gearbox is.  I dont know enough about this stuff to deduce what the problem is.  Does anyone have ANY clue what this could be?  Im heading up to Sedona for the weekend and wanted to take it with me, but its not looking like thats going to happen.  If you can help, then please do, otherwise keep the negative remarks to a mimum... i know that lots of noobs have dumb ass issues when the first get their AEG's but ive honestly checked everything i could think of before i posted this.  Thanks in advance for any help!   man im having a **** day...lol
