Classic Army M4
« on: February 13, 2005, 09:08:24 AM »
I was told I needed to shave down some parts in the inside of my gun to get other mags to work other than the CA mags...  I looked all over the internet and found nothing... If anyone could either tell me how or send me a link it would be much appreciated.  :D

I have personally used almost every imaginable M16 style magazine (including a thermold hicap) in two different CA M15A4's and have only ran into one problem.  I had a couple of G&P midcaps that were a really tight fit (in only the newer of the two guns), but those were 2 or 3 out of a total of 14 that I now own.  I simply traded them for other midcaps.  Whoever told you that must have had a very atypical experience.

My experience with my Classic Mistake was the opposite.  I had to put tape in the sides of the magwell to keep ALL mags from swaying side to side.  I am guessing there are crazy intolerances in the manufacturing.  I would suggest modifying the mags on a mag-by-mag basis IF needed.  If you find they all would need modification, you'd then be better off modifying the gun.  Obviously, try before cutting/shaving.  You can always remeasure, but you cannot always recut.

Repeat after me: Magazine, Magazine, Magazine... keep saying it until you no longer need to use the naughty c-word.

Hahahaha. Well my CA m4 had some problems too...I bought about 8 TM standards and NONE of them stayed in. Its basicly just the mag not being able to catch on the mag catch because its not high enough. A few MM shaved off of the mag catch knotch will solve this problem. And I noticed that new CA mag catches dont "catch" as easy as older ones that have been broken in a lil bit.

Repeat after me, preferably while double-timing around your computer:

"A 'clip' is something I wear in my hair.  The item I put into my M4 is called a 'magazine'.  I will try very hard to remember the difference in the future!"

Yeah, this kiddo here taught me the same thing when I first started playing with AA. Now, I'm in the stupid habit of being annoyed to hell with anyone that calls em clips.

On topic, my friend, Troy has a CA M16. He's got some major problems with the magwell, the mags get jammed in there from time to time.. and it's no easy task getting them out, although they're easy to get in. And, I believe, on one of his mags, they just fell out. I was puzzled, but the simple solution was to not get a CA M16 variant.

Why even bother buying a CA?

Can you give us a better explanation as to why you would say that? Personally, my next AEG(far from now) Will be 100% built from scratch with the best parts. That way its neither CA, TM, G&G etc. It's the shit! Heh.

I dont like CA. For some reason you can somtimes get a good one or a bad one. There quality control blows chunks.  Mine is ok so long as a use marui mags, but CA mags are just crap I guess. CA gearbox is not that much better than a marui I guess I hear to many stories about how there gear box whent with a m120 spring and a 9.6 battery. Its also just to dang loud in my opinion like something just is not right.

I went and built my own gun, and in my opinion thats the only way to do it. people may not want to drop that much cash. However, in the long run thats the cheapest way to do it. Also your gun would be tight, and may even retain its price value better. I droped $1200 but no one has a gun like mine.  Your gun would be much cheaper than mine, it would just take more time. Only thing Mauri on it is the retractable stock and gearbox. It started as a Mauri m733 Commando, and ended  as a second gun. Thats one of the reasons it would be cheaper to just go and build your own. Dont start with an already built gun. I need to go get a camra to get some pics to post.
