On an elkhunt I have dubbed the indian peak wilderness death march.    We climbed 7,000 feet in 6 miles 1 of which was flat and 2 miles were 2 feet deep in snow, and the rest was straight up and down, it took just over 4 hours with 50 lb packs. And to add insult to injury we never even saw any sign of elk  :x.

Very nice! I have a friend who's been elk hunting all his adult life and hasn't killed a single one!!

All in all it was a great experience, but I was way out of shape for that hike so it was brutal on me.
