Tanaka Rifles

Just wondering if anyone here owns or has handled a Tanaka bolt action rifle, as I am looking into purchasing one for use as a sniper rifle (either some sort of M24 or M40A1, still deciding), as the 'ol SG-1 just wont cut it. The general consensus in the airsofting community seems to be that these rifles are adequately or even too powerful stock (with green gas), but little or no mention is made of their accuracy or skirmishing ability. I’ve done a search here on AA as well on a few other forums, and mostly turned up nothing next to the odd comment from Busta on how well his rifle shoots. Only thing I’ve turned up worthwhile is that a lot of owners seem to want new inner barrels and hop units, and usually get the outer barrel/inner barrel/ metal hop-unit sets. They have some at

. Are these sets worth it, do these rifles need the upgrades or are they accurate enough to use in the first place? (in comparasion to a spring rifle, such as an APS-2) Anyway, If anyone has any comments on the quality or usefulness of these rifles, or any experience upgrading/skirmishing with them, I’d appreciate any knowledge you can spare.

Keep in mind of the slightly cheaper, yet still par, alternative of the KJW M700.
It's fun, good, and damn cheap.
As for Tanaka's, i couldn't tell you about them myself as i have never had the pleasure of handling one.

Yeah I took a look at the KJW M700, looks like a good rifle. Thing is I think M700's are ugly and probably wouldn't ever buy one. The whole tapering barrel thing just doesnt look good to me.
