Scope rails & Clamps
« on: November 01, 2005, 10:06:52 PM »
Does anyone know where to get a basic clamp for use in building your own rail-mounted accessory?

(IE, just the lower half of a normal scope ring without having to hacksaw a ring in half)

Thanks

I'm interested in this as well.

I've seen A.R.M.S. bases with 2 throw levers and a tapped metal base forattaching your own stuff, but they were expensive.

Depending on what you wanted to make, you could always machine your own base.

What are you planning on making if you don't mind me asking?

You'll see eventually, everyone will want one when i'm done, heh

The drawback is, it's going to cost 150$ just to get the pieces.

(HINT: It's something nobody has done before)

Are you sure it's a first? You'd be surprised some of the stuff people have attached to 1913 rails. ;)

You've got my attention, though.  :?

Unless it's something silly like attaching an iPod to your  RAS, I'm sure someone, somewhere has done it before.

If you tell us what it is you want to make, we can help you.

I have some experience with making custom rail-mounted gizmos, and could probably give you a hand.  If you want to keep it to yourself, I can't help.

yeah, it might be a total flop, no argument there.

i'm hopeful tho, and if it works it's going to be awesome.

Well,

#1 i'm tired of getting backlash from misc people that would rather complain about someones creation/idea than help, so i've decided to keep this one to myself, nothing personal.

#2 As I said I just need the bottom half of a scope ring dovetail. Right now i'm going ahead with just hacksawing a pair of cheap scope rings in half. (Tho it's hardly the solution i'd like)
