Ok, cool.  Thanks Shaun.  I was gonna ask if there was something of that manner that i could do to allow the battery to fit.

And, i would rather not buy another battery.  I JUST got this one.  And if it can fit by slight modification, then i'll take that route.

Would it be possible to rearrange the cells in the fashion as displayed in the evike link? Maybe you can give JT a visit, IIRC they are going to start making batteries.

you could probably do it yourself if you get enough little metal 'connecter' things. im sure you could just use any conventional conductive metal. i would do it but i dont have any problem with just using an 8.4v. as long as it shoots when i need it to.

Yeah, the 8.4 should be good enough for me.  It's just slightly larger than the 1300maH one.

This place sells DIY kits in addition to regular airsoft batteries, would it be feasible for a regular person with no electronics type background to put one of these together successfully on the first try?

Soldering is no problem.  And i'm not afraid of messing with electronics.  I've seen those little metal connectors and it actually looks prety easy to make one yourself.

Although it's a tight squeeze, the battery now fits in the stock with the stock plate.  Thanks for the advise on knocking out the plastic protrusions onside the stock that limit the battery space.  I was thinking that maybe i should solder the wiring and eliminate the use of the connector between the motor and fuse connection (where the becomes larger, lower gauge). I am sure that the battery can go in a little bit more to fit the stock plate on better, but the little connection at the base of the stock is in a bad spot for the battery.  Soldering would create more space for the fit.  Then again, if i just rewire the electrical with lower gauge wire, then there would be no need to solder (except on the motor connections)  8)

Think this will be ok?

It is up to you... i personally like the AK's style, and above that, it's very dependable.  It was a great buy.
