you shouldnt have a problem with the TT mag pouches hiding an airsoft mag. But your plan is good, get them both and try them out and if you dont like either resell them here or return them.

TTs are different than the ones you were originally looking at and like Raith said just throw a little foam in the pouch to raise it up a bit ...if.... if it is a problem.

Well looking at some pictures when I came across a guy with TT's/TT copy. Damn, the magazines are pretty low.

If you use some type of map pull, it shouldn't be a problem.  You can always stick some foam into the bottom of the pouch, as was stated above.
