are these rail mount types any good?
« on: September 23, 2006, 04:23:51 PM »
I have a stock CA M15A4...

I cant seem to find anyone using or saying anything about them...

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... odID=15131

I think those just go right onto the holes on the foregrip top and bottom right?

Can I use these as an alternative to a full more expensive RIS/RAS type system if I just want to mount say a verticle handle / m203?

Also Im looking to get some sort of red dot aimpoint...probably a replica.
Is it best to mount it on top of the carry handle, or to mount it on the rails the carry handle is on. Ive seen it both ways, whats the functional difference between the 2 methods of mounting?

Thanks

You can use that rail thing to mount a foregrip on, though dont expect it to be the most long lasting choice.

Take the carry handle off and mount the optic to the rails undernieth, that is what they are there for.

wont the front site be in the way of the optical site if I mount it like that?...and can a m203 be mounted using those style rails? ..

i use a weaver just like that i have a G&P vertical foregrip on it and a flashlight in front of that. its better to have a RIS if you want to use a M203

alright well one quick question...in RIS / RAS systems are there any that I can still store the batteries in the RIS / RAS...like the stock forestocks?

thats the only thing keeping me from getting one of those systems....I dont wanna put the batteries in a fake laser site mounted on top or anything =/

a stock foregrip will most always carry a bigger battery than the RIS systems. if you dont want a PEQ (the fake laser) you can get a crane style stock. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... cts_id=923

it retracts like a collapsable stock but holds bigger bateries than the solid stock would. the weight of the batt is in the rear with this so that makes it easier to aim.

http://www.all-battery.com/index.asp?Pa ... ProdID=506

I have those batteries, they fit into the stock forestock no problem..they are pretty small, think those could fit into RIS / RAS?

I dont like the idea of that crane stock and the wires getting messed up in there...my friend is getting the full buttstock M15A4, with RIS on it already ... I guess I will see how I like his stock and maybe get a full buttstock for mine.

But for now would really like to know if those particular batteries could fit in RAS / RIS... =)

oh and one other question which red dot sight "replica" , is fairly decent? as far as brightness and durability I guess, having a hard time figurin which one is nice.

thanks

i doubt they will. i'd be very surprised if they did.

as for the red dot. u can get a really decent one for G&G about 80. shop around.

btw, in november, im getting the CA M15A4 CQB. it has the crane stock and the ris. everything ive ever wanted. i thought exactly like you do for a while. then as i got into the game, i realized i need more serious stuff. i used to have a solid stock. that made the rifle rear end heavy which i think is good. but CQ was a problem. im still using the weaver rail, it does its job, but ill need to get the weight of the battery back in the rear. the crane stock is a no compromise solution. Large battery, weight off the front end, and retractability for CQ. the RIS will carry an LCD flashlight on the side and the grip on the bottom. Everything i need is there.

yes itll cost a bit of money. but this hobby is not cheap

did ya mean G&G or G&P for the actual scope? cuz I see lots of G&P ones but no G&G ones, just mounting hardware from G&G...
hrm...

The front sight may be in the way but with an iluminated reticle it dosent matter.

I wouldnt put an M203 on that kind of rail.

hrm...I havent seen anything like this yet, I wonder if this particular sight is any good:
http://www.evike.com/Merchant2/merchant ... ope_RedDot

its an auto brightness adjusting sight, and for 130$ I would figure its somewhat decent. I havent seen it mentioned anywhere else...anyone know of this or others like it?

Here is something similar -

http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... ing%20arms

Much less expensive.  I have no idea about the the quality of either item, but all the King Arms stuff I've had or come into contact with has been nice.

The only issue I have with that is that if you lose the hood your only on/off switch is either letting the batteries die or removing them.
