« on: September 29, 2006, 10:46:44 AM »
whats goin down, im sure people will be pissed that this is in the wrong section, im not sure how i put it here.. anyway, i was in 29 from 2004-2006, as an instructor at the comm school, you know its funny you mentioned snow because late oct or was it early nov two years ago in 04 it snowed like a bastard the base got like 2 1/2 inches or somethinglike that. and the shit pond you gotta love it, especially if you like to hit up the skeet range that sits right on top of it.  great training out there though, killer pt, loved the smell of a few jet turbine powered abes when running to the rifle range. i complain but i actually miss being there sort of, not the place just the corps. well i hope to see you at a game sometime killer.  semper fi

skeet, man you had it good! Instructor, nice. I was one of the few grunts there full time. They 2/7 would never allow our dumb 03's near the skeet range said we might make the unit look bad cause all the officer and retired officers that werethere so you know mixing of the ranks ( just I can't spell fratrenization?) what ever.

Yeah; the comm school was there, ha I remember picking on the noob boots that had just got there from MIT and had no clue, man that would come round and think they were hard. Then to poor shits that came from school right over to 2/7, we would just walk over pick them up , with sea bag , duffle, .... in tow (on shoulders) and they would get to our unit and just start whinning, 'why do have to go HERE' ' why can't I go to PENDLETON or HAWAII.......29 stumps  is Paradise for those that think they are hard! Oh the good times

yea i was with 1/8 outta lejeune untill i was injured and put on a limited duty board, they gave me orders to the comm school because i was not deployable anymore, speaking of which did you know the commandant started an initiative to eliminate ALL garrison mos's from the corps? supposedly all marines will be deployable in 6 to 10 years, which is revolutionary if you think about it, if a major offensive takes place the entire corps will go. you wouldnt happen to know 1st sgt geletko (god help me for misspelling his name) would you? i know he was with the 7th marines not sure what battalion, but he was wpns co

the comm school sucked though, the fuckin rules! holly shit i've never seen so many ncos burned before, and nothing was handled in house there were mass njps all the way up to battalion, it made me sick, so i oped to get faped out to 1/7's comm shop, and when they would deploy i would just go back to instructing the boots

No.
I was with Golf co. 2/7 as a anti tank assaultman gunner dragon- smaw.

When they found out I could read write type and was about 8-10 years (27 when I enlisted)  older than my counter parts I got moved up to the H&S co. very fast to help run the S3 shop to coordinate trianing ops and schools. For over a year I was the Batt. Schools NCO even as a pfc. I held billets that e4 and e5 status.

remember  I was there 97-00 But I knew a bunch of Marines  at Regt H.Q. ( Cpl. K was my main contact) due to the breifs we atended to plan out Co., Batt., and Reg. ops,

man I was at a 1st Mar Div. op holly ....... Harriers from el torro, cobars from our flight line, navy F14's F4's, f18's,  f16's from the A.F. missiles, rockets bombs ,live fire from hell, tanks, mlrs, aavv, over 4 thousand marines running around the dessrt and Op FOR from ft. erwin,  cannons, everything under the sun

damn i love the smaw.  i was lucky enough to hold a SNCOIC position at the school, on top of instructing i was basically give the billet of sncoic of the security clearance section for b co mcces. which was smooth, other than the obvious annoyance of boot students, especially the ones who came from the east coast who thought 29 palms was some kinda california beach paradise or something.  good times though even the bad times were good

yeah when we got there it was night, then the next day we got up and just freaked out about how there was nothing out there, nothing.

The joke was ' where are the palm trees' then we got smoked for being dumbasses.

Yeah everyone from the east thinks that all the the bases were like MCRD SAN DIEGO or Pendleton, on the beach, near the cool places in Cali....They should call it Death Valley 2, instead of 29 palms, I saw maybe 13 palms all on the road going in and out of the main gate. or is 19 I can't rember, but not 29.

Did they still put wrecked cars by the main gate before long libo weekends. They always would find the most mangled crashed burnt out piece of trash car to "remind us to be careful"
