Titanium Piston?
« on: October 03, 2006, 08:18:38 PM »
Has anybody ever used one of these (Deep Fire Titanium Piston (Titanium Teeth)? If so, how well would this work with high speed gears? What would be the pros/cons. Thanks for the help.

They are pretty sweet in high cycle applications.

Make sure your gears can handle it, though. The piston is engineered to fail in case of shit, so, making it stronger means there's no failure points engineered in, so, now if your gears crap the bed, there's no question what might happen.

Iv'e got the systema high speed flat gears, they're steel so i would think they're strong enough to handle it. Am I right?

Systema gears are good, but I'd recommend Prometheus gears.  They are made of a stronger steel.  What setup are you going to be running?

You want your piston to wear down  before your gears do. Pistons are alot cheaper and easier to replace then gears. I would always keep my piston a weaker material then my gears.

I'd go with the G&P Polyacetal high pressure piston.  It's high quality, strong as hell, and the last 3 teeth are metal.  Probably all you'll need.  I have one in my M4, and I'm running it at 370 fps at 28 rps.
