That's what I do when my camera is sitting in its case for long periods of time or when I'm traveling with it.

I like UV filters because they are cheap and they don't really affect the final image.

Not to mention, it's a hell of a lot cheaper to replace a shattered UV filter than it is to replace a chipped lens.

just a normal haze filter stood up to hot brass from an AR15. the shot was under the shooter, the goal was to get the brass to fall into the lense chade onto the haze filter.

EDIT: they were blanks, and it was a professional production team who is trying to get their film sold to sci fi channel. it was finished today. filming was cool
