I have two of them.

A year or so ago, I made that same mod to one, although slightly better done. More solidly built, with the slot at the top side of the gearbox as not to weaken the piston rack. The pisyon in mine was fully connected to the faux bolt and didnt have to rely on the forward thrust of the whimpy bolt spring.

I ended up taking it out eventually. It got annoying after a while really, and I thought it was kind of cheesey with the bolt only moving halfway back.

You might want to read the whole thread, before you post a question that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.  The M1A1, aka the thompson sub-machinegun has nothing at all to do with an M4A1.

He is the latest example of the type of person I made the that thread for.

But, on topic...

Is it really worth the work?  I mean it looks cool and all, but it seems like a lot of work for an otherwise pointless mod.  Plus, I assume that is a plastic body (given it's a Marui), so it seems like that is just asking for trouble.

There is a rumor with pictures of CYMA(?) making a M1A1. If its a straight clone you could do the same mod without having to damage an expensive Marui.
