I'm glad a new store has opened, but....
« on: May 10, 2007, 09:48:31 PM »
Where do they get off trying to hijack the name of the Airsoft Arizona name to use on their website?  http://www.airsoftaz.com/  Just stick with their own name IMO.

That's punishingly gay.

It's too bad, their prices are good and if they're local I might shop from them, but, not now.

This is the same thing as airsoftalley.com, and that guy registered on this board. I remember because he had this cheesy tagline, "Where do you...get your gear?" and that's the same one as this website.

It'd be one thing if he didn't know, but he does, bad, bad pool.

They're online only and based out of Tucson, I think.

Yeah, like Vince said.  They're only online for the time being but they have plans for opening a storefront down here in Tucson.

well, JT is closed, so they'll have no local competition. But even still, that whole thing puts them in a bad way

Wow, bad form. So much for getting my business. They didn't even have the decency to link to here in the "favorite links" section.

Its probably possible to get them with copyright infringement and recover the domain name. I work at a registrar and I see it all the time. People try to register names like Americanexpressmortgage.com, and even though its not even related content, the domain is still taken away. In this instance you have a very strong case for securing that domain, being that they even have a similar focus. On top of that, they are making money off of that name jack. Worth looking into.

Is there even that big of a market in tucson to have a storefront?

And two, that name is quite close, but they could just be dumb and not know AA exists; if it's not out of ignorance, then I dunno, eff em.

They know about this site because the owner of Airsoft Alley registered here before his site went live. He probably thinks he was being cute or clever, not understanding the consequences.

My firm does a lot of domain name disputes.

The problem is Airsoft Arizona is more of a club and less of a revenue generating enterprise.  The owners of the LLC could (and should) register AirsoftArizona AND www.airsoftarizona.com as "tradenames" under Arizona law and then use that registration as a basis to file a disupte petition.

The downside to that petition is its very expensive.

Probably not worth the fight....

its a lot chearper to just flame the fuck out of these guys ..... in their own house even....

I wonder why they have a link to Red Wolf.  It doesn't seem to make sense to sell AEGs, then provide a link to a competitor.

I don't really trust stores that don't bother to provide a phone number or address.  Besides the URL/name, I don't think they even state if they are actually in AZ.

Or any of the other AZ websites, for that matter.
