thanks, but i knew that info, and frankly Pay will nto influance my interest in PD.  

i'm just gonna wait a fwe years to establish a solid residance before applying again.

Mesa is having a budget issue due to the lack of city income tax. Theres a few departments that love former military, then theres a few that don't.

A few officers have told me that prior military make great recruits, unfortunately, their instinct requires them to receive orders before any action. Often times you have to think for yourself and do what you feel is the legal and logical thing to do.

This usually applies to the 21-22 year olds fresh out of the military, but different departments like different qualities.

Get your face and name out there. Call some of the departments your interested, and some that you may think your interested in, and ask to do a ride along. Both Gilbert and MCSO can do all the paperwork for the ride along over the phone.

Mesa always complains that they have a budget issue due to no income tax. They just hope that no one remembers the millions they have given away in the past years. I know how this works...

But not to get off topic too much, I dont see how establishing a residence will help.  Right now all I hear is that the valley is short handed on officers.

On that topic, residing in the city is not on the top of their priority list. Chandler PD went to Minnesota a few weeks back, thats how desperate they are. Over the next few years, you can pretty much choose where you wish to work for.
