That pushes on the motor, the farther you screw it in the farther it pushes the motor into the gearbox. Its used to get the proper alignment of the pinion gear to the bevel gear. Too far out, the gun will make a loud whining sound and too far in will place added stress and wear on those two gears. Either way damage can and will occur to your gears. You will just have to play around with it to get it aligned again.
