Question on M15 series from CA

I noticed that there is a screw on the bottom of my pistol grip, does it serve any specific purpose?  Not the 2 screws that hold the cap on... When doing some upgrades I noticed it, and it just seems to be "there".... Thanks!

yeah if its a allen set screw its for adjusting the motor.

I just pulled it out and checked, no, it's just a flat slot... are you refering to putting like some "preload" on the motor? If so, any idea where to find specs on that? Thanks!

UpState, that is a TM MP5 he has a CA M4.  They look different but perform the same function.  His is a larger screw and is adjustable with a flathead screwdriver.

Salvo, you didn't want to do that if you didn't know what you were doing.

That pushes on the motor, the farther you screw it in the farther it pushes the motor into the gearbox.  Its used to get the proper alignment of the pinion gear to the bevel gear.  Too far out, the gun will make a loud whining sound and too far in will place added stress and wear on those two gears. Either way damage can and will occur to your gears. You will just have to play around with it to get it aligned again.

I meant that I pulled my gun out of the case and looked at it... ;)  When I had performed upgrades I saw that when I had that cap off the pistol grip, it, at the time didn't seem like it did anything... I can understand how preload might come into play though. I don't think I turned it at all when I had it apart, although you are certainly making me hope that I didn't... I don't think any noises were heard last time we were shooting... No specs anywhere????

Every airsoft gun will be different.  You just have to play with it until it is adjusted properly.  Unless you change the motor, it's pretty much something you never have to adjust though.

I know your being helpful and so am I.  I was just stating the fact that he has a CA M4 which does not look at all the same as the TM Mp5.  It has no allen screw.  

Salvo, you should be good to go then if you just took out the two small screws and removed the endcap from the grip.  Though I have had one gun where the set screw would loosen up after an hour or so on the field.  I just placed a little blue locktite on the threads, problem solved.
