Legal question
« on: October 30, 2007, 08:18:45 PM »
Gentlemen,

I am thinking of trying to find an abandoned building somewhere in Arizona, and hosting a CQB event from that building. I know I would have to do a lot of work to make that building safe, away from the people, and all of that, but my main question (maybe you can help with this Doc) is what would I have to do to be able to use that building? What kind of permits/licenses/whatever else do I need to 'rent' the building?

Thanks in advance

Basic Statement: I Am Not A Lawyer. But as a former neo-"Officer of the Court", I have *some* basic legal training, so I can do some of the "leg work" for Doc....

Point 1. As you have yet to achieve your Age of Majority, you will not be able to enter into a contract to rent the building. having said that, ->

2. Permits would depend on the location and zoning of the building. Different municipalities have different regulations as to building use.
If this was a "one-time" use, then an event permit may be necessary.
A license to operate is (most likely) unnecessary unless you plan on doing this as a business. A good resource would be to check your City's Web site for Planning and Zoning, or Business Licenses and Permits.
