Airsoft Challenge 07: OP:Balkan Hammer
« on: October 30, 2007, 10:18:55 AM »
Hey All,
Here are my photos from Balkan Hammer.  All in all the event was a blast, ran smoothly, and with the addition of a central command unit, platoon communications and vehicles somewhat of a learning experience that I will not soon forget.  Stay tuned for more events from the Mueseum of Military History and MACV if this first event of theirs is any indicator they can only get better from here out.  Find below a link to my photos from the event, video will be posted later.

Here is a short video I tossed together with what clips I had plus a few photos.  Music is Breaking Benjamin- Follow and you'll find some video of the vehicles and the final fire fight at the SFOR FOB as well. Enjoy!

Here's some of the pics I got from that fateful weekend.

Both sides had some pretty badass moments. Great game all.

This one's from Heath in the Regiment:

Let me say.
I've gone up against STGIII, Shermans, and every kind of half track.( Re-enactor world. )
This is the first time I've seen armor driven with such aggression, and skill. Chad you are a man to be feared behind the wheel of that WEAPON! LOL!

That fight Sunday morning will never be forgotten...

We waited in line for the meat to come into the beat zone. Than "CRACK" it starts. And as fast it's starts, guns break down, wounded team mates cry "Medic!". Left peal is called out and repeated down the line. "Contact LEFT! Left door is blocked!!! RIGHT PEAL!" I call out.
I hear "SET" and it's my turn to go. I let lose with a full burst and my mag goes dry. I call out "MOVING!". Running I see Seth dead with a broken SAW, Jared dead, and more red rags on team mates. This is not looking good.
"ARMOUR! Right side." Is shouted out. Shanks is up with an AT round, ready to kill it. Than he crumples to the ground dead.
I see Woody and move to him. "This is going to SHIT Woody. We are on our own, Mate." The amour pass us, and for a moment we might be able to get out. Wrong, it stops and we see the bastards pointing at us. We give them the good news of seeing us. Two full mags in there face. I see some bodies fall back from our fire. Nice. "Bound back. Woody. To that tree!" From behind our new placement. I look up to see the front of the half-track bering down on us.
This is were my mind went racing...LOL
* How did he turn around so fast?
* No anti-amour weapon on us. CRAP!
* Open field behind us. With no cover for 100 meters. Not good.
* Half track gunner is firing on us. Rounds are hitting the tree.
* Can't get captured. Fight to the last man...
"Woody, we have to make a break for that tree line. He can't get through this tree line. We can make it. Lets go..."

I turn, gun up, insert a fresh mag, and start running my ass off!

"Go Woody, GO!" I call out. I can hear him behind me. No! What I hear is that horrible sound of clanking metal and a engine being gunned.
That sound is telling me Woody is dead and it coming for me.
Run Heath, Run your ass off. Your going to make the tree line and give some hate back to those SOB's. Make them pay for the Gang, Seth, Jared, and Woody.
I'm going to make it.

I feel the first burst hit my shoulder. Thud, thud, THUD. Followed by more impacts on my legs and right arm.
"5 Yards. I missed the tree line by 5 yards." goes though my mind as I collapse to the ground.
I can hear laughter and cheering. It's them in the track gloating over the kill. ME!
"Sorry Mate's. I tried." goes through my mind.

That's the best I can remember how it went.
The bummer part is, I forgot I had a grenade in my pocket. LOL!

Woody. I know you tried to keep them at bay. Thanks for the cover fire.

Thanks Chad for a great event and something to look forward to next year as well.
With you bring more amour. You can bet we will be training in stronger Anti-amour tactics...LOL. Shaka

I'd have to look to the staff to answer that but I think it was in the low 80's.  Red Dagger is coming up in March, you should make the effort to roll out with the 10 or 11 of us from Tucson that are so far headed up.
