The rage virus, from my understanding of the 28 Days/Weeks Later movies doesn't cause death. The rage virus does not produce zombies. The people infected with the rage virus only kills others without it. Since they are not actually dead, yes they still need water, air and food. Since I have never seen one of those infected eat or drink on purpose, I have seen them bite as an attack but not truly eat, they will die out in a few weeks.

Zombies are the reanimated dead. That is how I see them. Their only purpose is to feed, which is not actually necessary. It all depends one what would make the zombie a zombie. If it is a virus, then the virus would remain in the brain because it is the last semi-living part of the undead body. The science that applies to a live body is possibly completely different to a virus caused zombie body.

Now there is also the Voodoo Zombie, which is a person controlled by another and they have no will of their own. But is not dead, just under a curse or spell.

-Chem/bio overgarments to wear when strolling through an infected area for more ammo or food.  Including...

-NBC-rated promask/CBRN respirator or filtermask with blower.  Sucking air through a filter with your adrenaline rushing really sucks and can lead to hyperventilation.  The blower would come in handy.

Oh s***, gonna need to learn how to make a blower pouch!!  :P

Yep, and a CBRN respirator getup, too.  I'll see if I can get you some pics and measurements of our respirator framesheet/waistbelt and bottle that we use for Nitrogen.  For the blower, I guess you and me will just have to take a trip to the ALSE shop when I get home and you can try one yourself. ;)

I may have to put together an armor kit to quickly add to one of my vehicles so I can get the heck outta dodge. Because when this thing goes down we need to get as far away from large populations of people as possible. One of the skyislands like Mt. Grahm or Mt. Lemon would do well.

Or hold up in the commercial district in Tempe and make roof bridges from Granger, ITT/Litton, Smith Enterprises and Armor works.

I like the latter, but the operators of said shops will probably be on their way to the former.

And arguing about zombies is like arguing about conflict/war.  If you're getting shot at I call it a war, and if there's crazy humans with bloodshot eyes milling around eating people I call them fuckin zombies.

Whether or not they are/were/are-going-to-be dead at some point doesn't really matter since they all share the intent of killing live humans.

Come to think of it, intent on killing, the unwillingness to negotiate, terrible personal hygiene; zombies are a good metaphor for radical Islam, but that's an entirely different thread.

What do you mean 'so I can get the heck out of dodge'? What about your Missus. Gonna leave her to the zombies?

They had a bunch of that stuff at the DBT sale, but I am always up for a field trip to ALSE.
No doubt those guys will be manning the guns at their shops. I doubt you would get within a mile of the cav arms shop without getting a bullet in your noggin.

;)  "I" as in "We", it is taking some time to get used to. She still is weirded out when I introduce her as my wife.

I wouldn't go within a mile of the Cav Arms shop anyway.   Yellow t-shirts scream "eat me!"

Good to know about the DBT sale.  We need a few extra tanks to fill the airplane tires.  :P

So it sounds like we are going to agree to disagree. I'm cool with that.

I love that statement. We should somehow add this to the Wikipidia zombie definition.

my plan is to go to a Home Depot store and make it a citadel. think about it...its full of wood, paint, and solvents to burn. it has concrete and wood to fortify the doors/windows/walls of it...the walls are too high to climb...they have big open roofs to fortify and turn into a firing platform...there are big ladders to use to bring more survivors up to the roof level(with their food and ammo, of course) and if you brought in a car, you could turn it into a battle wagon...what with the sheet metal/sharp objects/chainsaws that are redily available at Home Depots... AND as an added bonus, there is plenty of material to build bridges from one building to another to get food/ survivors/make one BIG firing trap between them!

Your guy's discussion here believe it or not has gotten some national attention and has made some White House officials concerned.  Here is the press conference where the President was asked about the issue.
