Aug. 3rd Summation

Well as usual great game everybody. I had a lot of fun. In 2 out of the 3 games I was there for I did not get shot, which is an improvement. Unfortunately my battery for the M4 died again before we were done playing. If anyone has one they want to sell me, I am planning on being at the Aug. 9th Game. Just let me know. [:)]

To the point of the matter. Game 1 was a different twist on an old favorite. It was a retrieve your teams Dynamite pack and bring it to a designated blast area on your opponents team. The twist you ask, is that both teams have bombs to be placed, and defended. The timers on the bombs once retrieved and placed were set at 1 min. Which means there can be no lolly gagin around once the OPforce has your bomb.  As for the game play on this, it was pretty interesting. Both teams took a less than conservative approach right from the start.  After initial casualties were incurred, the game became more strategic. Eventually one team (the other guys [V] ) detonated their bomb. This game was pretty evenly matched because given 1 more min our team would have had our bomb detonated.  All in all it was a very interesting game of defense and offense.

Game 2 was back to basics. Capture the hill. This time however each team had a timer on the hill and was responsible for switching their 30 min. count down on and switching the enemy teams off. This game had much more intense fire fights. Practically 30+ min worth. There were very few Lulls in the fighting. I think I went through 4 mages on the hill alone. And oh did I mention it was single fire only. As with most of the times we have played this game, the team which took the hill first was able to keep it most of the game.  Good fun a cover fire practice if nothing else was gained.  At one point however the fighting spilled over into the parking area.  This should have and easily could have been avoided.  For future reference most sane people don't like getting their cars shot at without at least running someone over. [^]  I think on these capture a static point games we need to be able to approach the target point from a good distance in any direction.  This will allow all you Flankers to have plenty of counter Flanking room.

Game 3 The last game I was there for, was a capture the enemies command post style game. No real new innovations on this game were made. Since there were approx. 5 people per team we did instant respawns for each game. Which kept the fire fights heavy. The defenders of the Command center had to hold their position for 30 min. And succeeded as usual. This time however it was not because the Opforce took 15 min to find the base. In a fair estimation, the enemy base area ( not specific point ) was found in less than 2 min of game start.  There were several small fire fights, but few heavily engaged ones. I think I changed mags once just to run out of battery power almost immediately afterwards. The defenders picked a nice area to set up camp, where it was difficult to flank without being spotted. This made the OPforce have to come in slower than was prudent for the 30min time limit, and eventually won the game for the defenders.  The 30 min limit had just run out right when all of the OPforce had converged on the base point.  This was also the high point in the fighting with BB's flying in all different directions.
So as stated it was another great day of Airsoft. I hope to see you all at the Aug. 9th game next weekend!
