I'd be leery of buying any broken AEG, unless it was just cosmetic. But internally broken, I'd shy away from. If you keep your eyes open, stuff pops up on here for sale all the time. Also, you can check ebay.

And just in case you haven't realized it yet, the gearbox is what makes the gun work in the first place (actually the battery makes it work, but you won't get it to shoot without a gearbox). Seriously, unless you have the time and inclination to work on a broken gun, I'd wait until you had the right amount of cash and invest in an operational unit. In addition, buying someone elses trouble is never a wise choice. I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like a sage, it's just that alot of us have been 'there' and have sad tales to tell.

All correct.  I wouldn't buy that gun unless you plan on stripping it for the parts (like the full stock and RIS), and even then the seller seems to mention a few times that it's pretty scratched up.

Holland, for $290 shipped you can get a brand new Classic Army Armalite M4.  Go to www.zorks.com and you can pay for it in three installments on your credit card and he'll ship it to you after the first payment is made.  Trevor at Zorks is a great guy to work with.  It took a couple weeks to get mine as he has to order it from Hong Kong.  I'd go that route instead of shopping for a used gun thats going to end up costing you more to fix in the end than a new one would have to start.  He can also do that for just about any Airsoft gun out there.  If he doesn't have it in stock he'll order if for you.  A credit card is needed though to do the 3 payment deal.

I think he worded it incorrectly.  How can he give you the complete internals but not the gear box?
"This includes all internals but the gear box which has never been opened."

Anyway, Holland, definitely check out Zorks.

Here are some used guns, but they are in working order. They are very cheap, and they are from a reliable site.

Although you were looking for a cheap one, here is a highly customized one, with double magazines, and a silencer. The scope and flashlight are not included though. $450

Need a couple of opnions.
« Reply #10 on: July 31, 2003, 11:24:08 PM »
To make a long story as short as I can, I am new to airsoft don't currently own an AEG yet. I have rented the clubs rental AEG for 2 meets and I really enjoy airsoft. Also currently I am getting married in Sept. and closing on a new house in Nov.
Now here is what I need opnions on, the Department of War ( also the Dept. of Finance and Recration)says I can spend around 200 bucks on an AEG or wait untill December and spend what I need to then. On the ASP classifieds there is a broken SR-16 (which is the AEG I want) for sale for 175. The description says fires a couple of rounds then dry fires see link for full description or ASP add 10758 .

http://www.airsoftplayers.com/classifie ... adid=10758

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem with their AEG and what it took to fix the problem. Also if anyone thinks it is a bad idea to make this purchase please feel free to comment. I know that if I make this purchase it is a gamble and no one would be held responsible for this decsion (SP?) but me. I am have asked the seller if this deal includes any batteries or magazines. Thank you for any replies.
