Best GPS unit for Airsoft?

All right, I'm finally gonna break down and pick up a GPS unit. Can anyone recommend a particular brand/model that would be suitable?

As long as you can plot points in it your good to go. Sure some you can use the computer while others have a direct interface, but that is just luxury! :p

I have a Garmin Foretrex 101 and have been very happy with it.

Garmin eTrex vista hcx.

It is the cheapest one to allow the use of memory cards. This way you can have a basic map of everywhere.

If you are just looking to have one on the field to mark waypoints and such then just get a basic eTrex.

i've used my sister's etrexx(the basic yellow one).  yeah it's cool, but i'm definitely looking for one w/ a few more features than bare stock.

well my price range is gonna be hopefully sub-250.  i'm possibly interested in finding one that does turn by turn street navigation too(i get lost sometimes)

I have an eTrex Vista HCx and an eTrex summit. I love my Vista HCx. I purchased a 1gig micro SD card for it and it contains half of the US and has turn by turn navigation.

The summit was a let down, it works great as a basic hand held out on the field, but without base maps it doesn't contain all the neat features that it could. i can get around this by preloading waypoints and tracks into it before a game using the mapsourcing software from garmin, but my vista has all that done for me.

I have a Magellan Sportrak and very happy with It,  and Iv'e had It now about 4 years. I think there all like this theses days but you update the software  and firmware via laptop or desktop my only gripe Is the tiny screen and It  eats batterys

Anything above your basic Garmin Etrex would be suitable --- just ordered a Magellan Triton 500 (new model?) for work - we use them alll the time - I'll post a review on here if I remember, after I get some field time with it.

I have a Garmin e-Trex. It works fine. If you get lost, at the begining of the match, make sure you plot your base. If you get lost while playing, just follow your cordinates back to your base. [smilie=armata_pdt_01.gif]

With the Garmin do you have to pay for the extra maps?

No. Mine just show a satelite image of where you are and where you need to go. You have to plug in the cordinates, then it just tells you where it is. [smilie=armata_pdt_01.gif]

Garmin Rhino.
Nice features but the radio is kinda weak and the neat features only work if others also have rhinos.

You get basic map-sourcing software from Garmin with most new GPS units but for more maps you do need to drop some additional coin on the software and all that is dependent on whether you have a GPS capable of storing maps. I suggested the vista HCx because it is the cheapest unit with a micro sd card. You can get a 1gig card that can hold maps of half the US.
