I guess, ultimately I was trying to answer the original question.  You can get a lower voltage Lipo at 7.4v that wont be has hard on your gearbox as long as you get one that can handle in amps what the motor wants which I think we have all decided is about 25A.  As long as the motor has enough power it will run like a champ and you wont really put more wear and tear on the gun.  Example:  If you are running the 8.4v small nimh you can see a small ROF increase by going to a 7.4 high C battery, just like if you put in a large 8.4v 3600mAh battery.  If you want to raise your ROF a lot you can go to a 11.1v lipo and go crazy but then yes, you will put more wear and tear on your gun and be visiting the Gearbox to have gears changed more often or doing it yourself.

The formula I provided was so you can make sure the LiPo you are looking at can provide enough amps for your gun since most of them don't just come out and say "this battery can provide 25A."

I have a 7.4v 1000mAh 10C LiPo.  That makes it a 10 Amp discharge rate battery, which is kind of low, but I haven't noticed it being sluggish at all.

I prefer the 7.4v to the 11.1v batteries.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for a Li-Po in the 7.4v range with at least a 3-4000 mAH capacity? All I see are Li-Pos for RC cars and some of them come in some pretty odd configurations.

Check out the link I posted for common sense RC and look under the 10C section.  Depending on where in the valley you are, I go to Hobby Action on Rual and Gauaduple (sp) which is right down the street from Gearbox.
