Cool!  Sounds very complicated for what it is, though.  I don't see the reason for the cone-bottom, but hey, if ya got the time and tools why not?  Instead of a cone, just slant the botton slightly toward one corner, and eliminate the sheet metal.  Thats what I did, and it worked great. I also put a light in it.  Heres the deal, I NEVER USE IT!  With all the games I attend, the only I find myself practicing is transition and movement rather than pulling the trigger.  Thanks for the heads up, though!

All I do is use a cardboard box with a towel suspended inside it.  Good thing about that is that it allows the BB's to be reused since they don't hit anything hard and break or crack.  They also don't go all over since the towel stops them silently.

Dont know where it is now but i had a post in here a while ago basicly the same idea, but instead of using metal as a backstop line the entire thing inside with eggcrate foam or something like it. Stops the bbs quietly(supposedly) and keeps them somewhat intact. I can send you a 3d render if you want to view mine, i planned to build it but having no use since i do not have an aeg.

I was under the impression that it is bad to reuse the BBs after they have been shot. Is this only if they have hit something hard? Just the force of shooting them out of the gun is not enough to weakn them? I have never read anything in particular about the issue, but I have always been nervous about reusing the BBs.

If they don't hit anything hard or touch the ground, it's fine to reuse them.  The two concerns with reusing BB's are that they will get dirt in your gun and if they hit something hard, they may have weakened (if not cracked) and break inside your gun, thus tearing apart internals.  Using the above method, the BB's neither hit anything hard, and stay in a clean enclosure thus eliminating both reasons not to reuse BB's.  But yes, in general it's best NOT to reuse BB's for AEG's, GBB's and high-end springers (sniper rifles).

You could shoot at an old towel. They stop BB's softly and quietly. Very effective. But don't use a nice towel, incase you get too close. The BB can penetrate the towel. [:)]

Thanks for all you help guys! I will try the idea of the carboard box an towel. I wanted to make this shooting box cause I am making a shooting range along this huge empty side of my house.

Interesting Idea!!

For the longest time I have been searching for a shooting target that would easily keep BB's from flying all over and making a mess that I would later have to pick up. I began drafting different ideas on graph paper using the basic type of lay out of the shooting range at GPD. So I finally came up with this idea. Basically it its a box, 2 feet wide and 5 feet tall in the front near the top the is a square hole where you can staple several paper targets to shoot at (of course), Now this is the tricky part its all hollow inside so the BB would just bounce around, so from the top of  the square hole is a sheet of metal slanting down ward at a 45 degree angle forcing the BB to slide down. the bottom of the box is like a large cone so all the BB's fall and collect at the bottom. To make cleaning out the box easier I cut a hole in the bottom of the box so the BB's would fall through and collect in another smaller box that slides out. Sounds a little complex but hopefully you will get the main idea. Once my dad and I are finished building it. We will take pictures and show the final product. I think it will work great!
