Good Brands for a 416?

Anyone know if there are any good brands for a 416? I have heard Echo is good but I wanted to know if there were any other brands out there.

The VFC is the closest recreation that I have run across. The are a few brands out there with HK416's and many are copies of other brands. The VFC's are hard to find but worth the effort. There is a clone of the VFC made by Dboys, but it's basically a great body kit (what they copied from VFC) with crap internals. I would only get the Dboys if you want it for just the body. I also have Hurricane HK416s and they are about twice the weight of the VFC and the dimensions are way off. AGM and Echo1 seem to be clones of the HurricanE, Echo1 being the only plastic bodied one of the mentioned. There are 2 other brands I have not had experience with yet, SRC and Classic Army. The SRC looks like it's hard to come by as well since Umarex got sue happy, leaving the authorized Classic Army's which are over priced unless you get the plastic versions which I hear are the only of the any listed that has plastic RIS rails. The listed above are only AEGs, there are gas versions out/coming out of the 416 to look out for as well. If i ever bought another the VFC is the only way to go, but hell I already have 2..

Do any sites still carry VFC 416's? I saw them on wgc shop's website but haven't really seen them in stock elsewhere.

From what hear they havent been in production for quite some time since Umarex bought H&K licensing a couple years or so back.

If you can go with a higher brand name and cannot find the VFC, I would recommend either the SRC Gen III 416 or the Top Tech 418. The Top Tech 418 has more reviews, and blowback, while the SRC Gen3 doesn't have very many reviews (if any at all) and the only place I could find them is evike, but they are also cheaper.

For lower end I would recommend the AGM if you can find them in stock because they are fully metal outside and inside, however AGM isn't coming back until Q4 of 2010 since they got shut down by big bad PRC airsoft gun and fun obliteration squad. Other than that on the low end I have heard good things about the Dboys, full trades, full metal, etc.

I would stay away from the SRC.  I was extremely unhappy with the one I had gotten for review.  The quality was unacceptable for a gun of that price.

I agree. I have a Gen 2 G36K, the tolerances are HORRIBLE.  The gearbox is unable to accept an aftermarket gearset because the sector sits too high.  (regardless of shimming)  This makes the tappet plate bind, causing a ton of jamming/misfeeding and a large fps reduction.  Hop up unit is terrible on all their G36s, even the Gen 3s.  (the hop up arm is too small, so it leans back and forth and indents the bucking funky...)

I would say VFC is your best bet.  Making a custom gun is also an option, but a very expensive one.  If you are on a budget, the AGM is probably decent.

Alright well it seems I am gonna look into the VFC but I think it may be a little too spendy but my nex paycheck could be the judge of that. Thanks for the suggestions everyone, especially Ranger Robby with the VFC info.
