Not really an AEG, but semi-auto electric pistol
« on: April 12, 2010, 02:36:58 PM »
I was browsing around today and I found this:

http://www.airsoftstation.com/desert-ea ... istol.html

If I wanted a gas-operated semi-auto, it would run me $50+
But this little electric is only ~20 with shipping.  Granted, it only shoots 180 FPS, but I like the way it looks (after I remove that ugly orange nose)

What are your guys' thoughts?  Would it even be worth getting?  Or should I just save up and get a gas operated one (or stick to a spring)?

Save your money, any blow-back AEP is a piece of crap.

There are other brands that make non-bloback Automatic Electric Pistols (AEP's) that are actually worth your time.  Tokyo Marui probably makes the best, but it's also the most expensive.  Cyma makes a pretty good clone from what I've heard, and they're much cheaper.  There are different models, but those are the only two brands I would trust.

And remember, the ones with blowback suck, even the Marui.

That Tokyo Marui is out of my price range, but I'll look for that G18

Can you give me reasons why this AEP sucks (aside from the blowback of course).  Is it the low FPS?  Or just unreliability of the gun.  What really pokes at me is that I can get it for under 20 bucks.

Fair enough...

I finally decided to settle down with a CYMA G18

http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/CYMA_Ai ... cm-030.htm

I'm real excited for it to come in.  Your thoughts?

It should serve yow well.  I haven't personally owned one, but I've seen them around and heard great things about them.

Make sure you get spare batteries, the included ones don't last long.  BOL makes a charger that will charge upto 4 of them at a time.  TM's mags are also a lot better than the CYMA mags, they are worth the extra cost.

I was looking at the Tokyo Marui extended 100 rd mag, but it's too expensive for me ATM.  Also makes the gun look like a real G18 so I thought I'd look into it.

Not sure how the battery thing is going to work out yet.  I'll tell/ask you guys when it comes.  I'm excited!

The Cyma isn't too bad, especially if you play close quarters games. I used mine a lot when I was playing CQB. A few notes on it though, the battery sucks and the fps isn't anything worth noting. Save your money after you get this gun and start looking for a AEG from echo or similar. A used one comes cheap, and will be a good next step.

Their performance is much worse, they are louder, and they aren't reliable.

Again, going back to 'you get what you pay for,' I think the Marui only costs like $60, and that's the top-of-the-line.

Haha, I would get that, but I already own the Umarex CO2 Pellet Pistol, and I don't want 2 DEs.

Thanks though, my CYMA was great.  Tagged a guy today sprinting.
