« on: May 01, 2010, 04:11:03 PM »
personal opinions and preferences aside,  would one of these fit on a M4's RIS and be accurate, i want a handle on my M4 but im getting sick of the  M16 style, it puts my scope/red dot too high for my eye :-k

Would it fit?  Absolutely no way at all.  Not even after heavy modifications.  It's not even close to the same dimensions.

Might fit depending on the handle. If it attaches via Picatany Rail and its the same height front and rear it should.

I have seen a guy that mounted one along with a G36 foregrip on an m4. As you could imagine, it was pretty gay. But that means it is possible, you just gotta believe!

Okay, I thought the short answer would be enough, but I guess I'll give the long one:
-A G36 carry handle does not mount to a rail.  Just go to a G36, pull out the 3 screws that hold it on, slide it off, and look at it.  It's not dovetail, it's not picatinny.  It's actually double-notched, and nothing close to any standard rail.
-To cut the notches to the right width and depth would be a lot of work.  The end result would be a weak plastic/polyfiber frame that was just made even weaker by cutting into it, with a nearly WORTHLESS optic.  Seriously, have you ever used one?  They're terrible.  They often can't be zero'd correctly, and they're amazingly hard to look through.
-Do you want to mount the entire handle?  Do you realize the length is from about the back sight to the front sight?  I don't see anyway to make that work on an M4.  And if it did somehow work, it would just look dumb as hell.

If your red dot sits too high, and you want to keep your carry handle, seriously: get a cheek rest.

Just curious.. what do you plan on using the handle for? The carry handle is actually pretty worseless now a days in an age of 1 and 3-point slings. there are also half height riser mounts with A2 sights built in that could help you add an optic about the rail, but below the carry handle.

i run alot, alot alot, especially at Ok corral and that type of terrain,  its just easyer to run holding it by the handle than anything else

Most guns come with a handle and a little spot for your finger, with a trigger.
