I hear they are some real badasses.  They have to complete a long March (which many do not pass)to earn the white cap (cappe blanc or something like that), and there is quite a mix of nationalities in the Legion Etrangere.

I hear the Paratroopers (Parachute Regiment)are the most badass of all...

Yea I also heard that correct me if im wrong... Is it true you have to cut off a enemies ear to get into SF?[}:)] ... OH WAIT THATS SF. No seriously tho I heard some pretty Hardcore stuff about the FFL. Like there is British people in the FFL  also Germans and Ruskies. And you have to know Le Frenche to be in the FFL. Humm I dono what else so Le Douche !!

The legion requires you to contract 6 years first enlistment. Upon completion of those six you can either re-enlist or you can get out. If you get out you can keep the french citizenship they gave you or return to the states reapply for u.s. citizenship. When you join the legion you give up your idenity and american citizenship. If your interested go to the nearest french consulate and speak with an embassy represenative. Mind you the boot camp is very vigorous and long. Marines is 13 weeks and I know the legion runs about 4 months. You will need to learn a foriegn language not french if you don't want to. The legion comprises of many differant nationalities and most of whom were kinda criminals in thier homelands. The legion gives you full amnesty and does not let you be extradited unless you do wrong towards them then they just kill you. Alot of the legion is known as mercanaries because besides protecting french international interests they work for the guy with the biggest wallet. Therefore they are known as mercanaries. There is only one group or military worse than the legion. That is the Gurkas.

Ok this question is for all you military encyclopedia guys.

1). What is the FFL?
2). How hard is it to join?
3). What are their operational capabilities?
4). Where would you rate them among others?
5). Could you hack it in the legion?

I've seen all the web pages now I want your thoughts.
